Parent: My wife and I toured the school for a planned move to the area, and were very impressed by the openness and sense of community presented both by the students and faculty. While we attended the tour, our daughter (3) was provided the opportunity to experience an active program though one of the classrooms. She was greeting instantly by the other children, and the teacher helped orient her to a group activity. Everyone was very friendly and excited, and our daughter was thrilled to be making new friends! The tour was hosted by a current student, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. She thoughtfully presented each classroom, social setting, and program structure. We were most impressed by the progressive nature of the curriculum, allowing each grade to interact collaboratively through creative projects. Sophomore: For the most part, this is a great school. It is very academically challenging, but students that are willing to put in the hard work to get good grades can really excel. Most teachers I've had so far are amazing at what they do. Each one has their own way of doing things. Some are really relaxed in their course, while others follow a very strict schedule. However, all are very open and willing to offer help whenever they can. Suburban also has so many activity options. It is usually rare to find someone who isn't busy after school at some point during the year. One complaint I have about it is that some clubs and activities show a lack of interest, and they can become very small and unimportant. Senior: I believe I had such a great experience with Susquehannock High School because of its amazing faculty and staff. Ever teacher is very kind and helpful in the students’ learning experience. Not only are the teachers there to teach, they are there for you no matter what you may need. I also love the atmosphere of my school and how safe and comfortable I feel. After spending 12 years now at school and going into my 13th year, it is nice to have a safe space that is like my second home. Overall there really aren’t any bad parts. Our administration ensures a great school experience. Something I may think about changing is hiring more staff. There have been times where classes with teachers absent and no one is there to cover. I believe that simply reaching out and hiring more staff would help to eliminate this issue in the upcoming years. Junior: Dallastown is a great school. The staff is caring and involved. The dedication, diligence and caring of the teachers and staff is evident with the high marks and accolades our school attains each year. I am a member of the high school swim team and love the motivation and support I receive from my coaches and fellow teammates. I would like to see the school district allocate more resources to all its student athletes though. Junior: I think South Western is an amazing school and is heavily underrated. SW offers a wide range of classes and three different levels: academic, honors, and AP. Along with academics, South West has a variety of clubs and extracurriculars for students to choose from. SW has incredible sports teams, an amazing music department, and an awesome diversity club. I think the most important thing to know is find something you like and get involved. You build so many friendships and relationships through clubs and activities. SW has so much to offer that you will find your place somewhere. I think SW is a typical high school; drama, academic competition, different cliques, popular kids, and disagreement. This also allows teachers to connect with students and strengthen the teacher-to-student relationship. Our administration focuses on the students' lives and are concerned for our learning which makes the school a positive and enjoyable environment. Senior: Central York school district has been a massive part of my life for the last 13 years. Because of this school district, I met my 5 closest friends, I was able to play the sports that I love most (basketball and volleyball), I was able to get involved in clubs like the National Honors Society, and so much more! Although Covid-19 ruined half of my high school experience, I think the teachers and administration did a great job in trying to keep normalcy there. Junior: I would like to see better resources for college, and more guidance in picking a college. I think that the system of how things are done should be better. The teachers are amazing, at least the ones I’ve had, and are very supportive and understanding. They have helped me in school, but emotionally through my times of need and were very understanding. The sports are average, but spirit is very high. There are many opportunities for clubs in school and out of school. The lunch ladies are the sweetest women ever. Super sweet! Junior: It's a very good school to go to with many opportunities offered. I'd like to start with the teachers/staff members.
