Dryden High School
#5 Best High Schools for STEM in Tompkins County
Junior: Dryden High School is the second school that I have enrolled in as a student. Dryden itself was a new and unfamiliar place for me, so beginning my sophomore year at a new high school came with the challenges of being the new kid. I joined the soccer team, and instantly made great connections with my coach and teammates, which helped me start the year without feeling like a complete outsider. Two higher leveled classes that I enrolled in my old school, that were also offered at Dryden, required summer work, and I transferred schools towards the end of the summer, which left me with very little time to do any work.My teachers were very understanding, and offered to exempt me from doing any work at all. I also found that they offered many college credit classes, and classes related to art and business majors. The main thing I would change about Dryden High School is the diversity. There aren't many POC, promoting lots of ignorance and prejudice that I experienced first hand as a POC.
