Senior: One of the best School District in Texas. One mascot for the whole district. School pride starts in Elementary school level and continues throughout High School. Wonderful Teachers and Staff. Top rated athletes. Several AP Classes and a few duel classes. Lots of State Titles in every sport except Softball. Great Robotics, STEM,Debate, Art & Theater Department. Gifted and Talented program is excellent. Lots of Student clubs, community activities to join. Some cons would be having to shuffle between High and Senior High Schools( not all classes available at one school). Not enough parking spaces for students at Senior High. Very competitive school district both academically and athletically. Which adds a lot of pressure and stress on the students. Bullying issues aren’t taken seriously. Senior: The school has a very good academic program, but the administration makes very questionable decisions sometimes. The higher ups also are not very in touch the needs and wants of the student population. The school also doesn't promote or fund the arts programs, as much as they should. Instead relying on donations to fund those programs past the limited money they put into it themselves. The athletics program is pretty good. Parent: This school is a great fit for my kids but it’s not for everyone. In our experience the academic aspect is very strong. I like that the teachers don’t just teach to the staar like surrounding districts. However, it appears most teachers are still covering the staar material as 2 of my kids received perfect scores on the math and reading staar several times. The sports and extracurricular activities are limited compared to surrounding districts but most people who choose this school are aware of this and don’t expect the same. We actually prefer the low-key aspect of the sports since it allows kids the opportunity to be on their school team in sports they might not have a lot of prior experience in. Most the teachers and administrators have been very responsive when I have a concern. It seems some people who have issues don’t really research what the IB curriculum is actually like or what sports and extracurricular programs are offered before choosing to send kids here. Senior: The Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences is a very rigorous and academically focused school. While it's relatively new and small, compared to other larger high schools, they provide many benefits and opportunities to high school students at an early age. Students are able to physically attend school at a community college amongst other college students and actually attend lectures taught by real professors. Not only does this allow students to become accustomed to this diverse environment, but it also gives them a taste of what college is really like. In addition, The Texas Academy of Biomedical also provides students the opportunity to obtain an associates degree during their time there. However, because this school is academically driven, there are very few clubs and other out of school activities, like sports provided. Senior: The teachers at Harmony really show that they value the students and their students' education, not just their own paychecks. They care about a lot about the students and build connections as well as trust with many if not all of their students. I have loved almost all of my teachers so far and I feel that not only myself but many other students trust these teachers with things that we don't trust many other people with. They are not only educators but they are life coaches, friends, and practically parents. The only problem is the lack of control that the students show in the day to day. Some of the students here lack self control and do not listen well to authority, so it is a bit frustrating to see the teachers constantly trying to reel the class back in because someone was goofing off again.... Middle School Student: I moved to this school in 2019 (my junior year), and I love it. The people are all alike in the sense that, we do not cause disruption or start fights. They are changing it into a STEM academy, meaning I will be the last to graduate from here and not he STEM academy. I enjoy the teachers I have, but most of my classes are taken at TCC, and my math teacher is leaving. So, I am not the best person to answer that question. Senior: During my time in this school, I got the chance to meet people coming from different backgrounds. Diversity was one of the things that caught my attention in this school and I love interacting with other people who are different from me. Parent: During our family’s five-year (and counting) tenure at Northstar School, we could not be happier with every aspect of the school. Our kids LOVE this school including the environment, friends, sports, art, electives, field trips, school trips and so much more. The Board, administration and teaching staff are engaged, caring and dedicated. As a parent, I can’t say enough good things about how they support the school, the kids, and the families. I would also like to commend their handling of the COVID-19 shelter-in-place situation. With only one week of extended spring break, the Board, administration and teachers put together an amazing online learning program for the kids. It required a lot of out of the box thinking to plan the remainder of the year and create engaging lessons for the kids and they were hugely successful. Sophomore: From an academic standpoint, the majority of the teachers I had were chill and engaging, knowledgeable, and understanding. I am involved in very time consuming ECAs, and most teachers were therefore more lenient on grading and the like. Some teachers may appear a little strict, but prepare you well for tests and help the material truly stick. As far as student life goes, I'd say the overall atmosphere at GHS is somewhat inclusive; most students are friendly but still divide up into groups based on interests and classes. Niche User: Covenant Classical School does an excellent job emphasizing the importance of admiring beauty, goodness, and truth in what they have their students read, analyze, and write. I love their Christ-centered worldview in every subject they teach, and the students there are always open to deep theological discussions. I also enjoyed reading classical literature and learning about classical history and rhetorical styles, but I do wish they had a stronger math and science program. All of the school's focus is on what makes their school unique-- being a liberal arts school-- but it does not provide the necessary courses nor instruction for someone who does not want to pursue a career in liberal arts. Freshman: Mansfield High School has an amazing community. I am greeted with warm smiles on the teacher’s faces every single day! Recently, our head football coach passed away due to cancer. Senior: I really enjoyed my time at Nolan Catholic. My mom attended school and is now employed there and my sister also attends Nolan. For the most part, the teachers are incredibly kind and helpful, and knowledgeable about their subject. They are passionate and want students to succeed. Senior: I am currently a Senior at Birdville High School. Throughout my four years attending, I have always felt welcomed by the teachers and administrators. Birdville High School allows students starting their junior year to take college courses through Tarrant County College which goes on your college transcript and gives you credit. They also provide the students with classes to help further their future at our Technology and Advanced Center. Junior: The academics are really good! I love how the school is smaller so the teachers and staff know you personally and can help you more! It is more of like a family place and lots of people are really rooted within the school. But since the school is so small everyone knows everything going on and there is a lot of drama. The kids can be pretty mean and there seems to always be a problem within the student body. While there is a lot of nice kids there is still a lot of mean ones. Lots of kids from public schools transfer over to FWC because it is a great school for academics but lots of drama seems to arise when new people come to the school, but not all the time it seems to only happen when they already have some connection from kids at FWC.
