Senior: University High School (UHS) has a total of roughly 400 students. With small schools, the community feels tighter, and everyone feels like family. The staff and teachers develop a strong bond where they can communicate with honesty and openness. UHS provides a safe space of support for those who may face problems at home, and its understanding staff and students create a welcoming atmosphere for all. The school also has an excellent curriculum that guides students towards academic excellence. Students are required to take AP and dual-enrollment classes, which adequately prepares them for the next level in college. UHS trusts its students to be understanding, honorable, and studious. There are no staff members patrolling the campus because there is no reason to; the students at UHS display proper behavior. A school with academic excellence, with a welcoming environment, with a strong community of kind students, deserves no less than five stars. It is not just a school; it is our home.... Sophomore: I have really enjoyed my experience at Clovis North so far. There are plenty of opportunities for students on and off campus, its right across the street from Clovis Community College so there are plenty of opportunities to take dual enrollment classes. There are plenty of AP and Uni-track courses offered, as well as CTE and off campus CART classes on the CART campus. The counselors are amazing and the administrator team is amazing at working towards the best campus for students. Recently, there was a dedicated building made for Computer sciences, Robotics, and 3-D printing. During my time here there has never been a problem with school safety or hazards that were unresolved. Parent: My mother who is 81 years old, my aunt and 3 uncles, 16 first cousins, 4 siblings, my spouse and I are all San Joaquin Memorial High school graduates and LOVE the place! We cannot say enough good things about this amazing college-preparatory school and we all continue to actively support it as alumni. Our eldest son is now a sophomore at the University of California at Berkeley and he loved SJM as well and had an excellent experience there. Alum: While Design Science Middle College High School is undoubtedly intensive and requires work, this school ensures that students get a valuable education and dedicates time to getting students into college. The workload is manageable and the staff at this school genuinely cares for the students. They go out of their way to prep students for college regarding work, environment, registering for classes, and paying for their education. Parent: Over all a good experience. Lots to get involved in, many AP choices and good concerned teachers! As a parent there were many opportunities to get involved and the teachers and coaches always welcomed parent involvement. Head counselor always responded in a timely manner. Unfortunately not all the other counselors were as helpful. As a parent I appreciated the diversity on campus. It seemed like a campus where everyone was welcome and accepted. Due to the STEM program offered at the school students from all over the district attended the school. This allowed for a rich student life experience. There was a strong emphasis on academics and the school offered the most AP courses in the county. My children were also involved in many after school activities that were offered. They were the only school to offer NMUN in the area. Junior: clovis east is a very diverse school that focuses on everything in the classroom then allow children to express their freedom in and outside of the classroom. However the funding that they have only goes to sports for example football gets new helmets every year, but math club doesn’t even get a shirt! Junior: Clovis High School is an average school. There's nothing that stand out too much against any other high-school. However if there's one thing I will never forget. It would be the teachers, they have only been respectful and given me a multitude of opportunities to succeed and learn more about things that interest me. Some of my favorite memories are centralized around the staff and teachers. For example me and my English teacher having deep discussions about the book that we were currently reading that delved into the morality of the death sentence and our judicial system, I've discussed the cycle of our universe and quantum physics involved with black holes with my physics teacher and my Spanish teacher has provided an outlet for me to inquire about my many inquiries into the grammatical reasoning of the Spanish language. Senior: I've thoroughly enjoyed my time as a student at Hume Lake Charter. It's located in the Sierra Nevadas and consists of around 70 kids from kindergarten to high school, meaning that class sizes are very small, as is the number of faculty. Being located near a Christian Camp at which the majority of students' parents work, we students are relatively distant from standard, city life-oriented opportunities (we don't have sports, clubs, etc.). Nonetheless, our teachers do a very good job of setting us up with other resources that allow us to learn effectively, whether that be opportunities to learn about vehicle maintenance through volunteering in our auto shop or conducting interviews with staff in career fields similar to those in which we hope to study. In addition, our teachers are truly delighted to invest in us students' lives and ensure that we are learning effectively in the classroom, and I've developed many friendships with fellow students through the setting that has resulted....
