Parent: I have 4 children that attend HHCA for the past 4 years. Their faith, Biblical knowledge, and trust in Jesus have strengthened and grown well beyond our expectations. The options to pursue fine arts and athletics are incredible. I have kids participating in both and the teachers make sure to help them have a healthy balance. My oldest kids have been academically challenged and my younger kids have had opportunities for the Gifted and Talented program. The school feels like one big family and constantly looks for ways to give to each student, their family, and the local community. Senior: My experience is a very positive one. The facility, staff, teachers and substitutes are genuine, loving and understanding individuals. Not only are they energetic and hearty but they meet students where they are in terms of home life, academic rigor and social life. They understand how support a student inside and outside the classroom and each day greet student diehard a smile. There has never been a bad part to my experience at Bluffton High School. Why? Because it’s close knit and family oriented space. I can freely express myself there and know that I am actively being protected and showered with support. The best part is the pep rallies and football games, where is bobcats show up and show out, our school pride and heartfelt love for our community and one another. Senior: I transitioned from my former school to Beaufort Academy and they welcomed me in without batting an eye. Now this completely shattered my expectations. My former school and Beaufort Academy are rivals; academically and in the sports world. My previous school was a christian school but their actions on the sports field toward BA did not reflect the philosophy of love and graciousness that they preached. BA did not have to welcome me in as kindly as they did. The Beaufort Academy Family brought me in as their own and people who have known me for just a short time treat me with the same amicability as their classmates whom they have known for years.... Parent: Heritage Academy is in an academic class of its own. It supports the student who is ready for a learning style that encourages growth in strength and weakness. Each child has the ability to focus on their passion/talents through time management. The teachers bring that added special approach and are eager to support each student in reaching their fullest academic potential. Heritage Academy is not an institution that offers the routine "fluff" as with traditional schools. Heritage Academy embraces each student and their needs. Our daughter attends 7th grade and looks forward to attending school each day. She has open and honest relationship with her teachers. Weekly there is follow-up on progress. Our daughter travels often for tennis tournaments and is not able to be "in seat" for each class/block. Senior: This is a very good school regarding academics. I enjoyed my time there and have made lifelong friends! I do wish there was a little more guidance towards the college path and more AP classes, although we have a fair about of AP and IB courses. Teachers are great and helpful. I’ve been taught many different lessons that will help me in college from every course I’ve taken. Another thing I’ve enjoyed were the extracurricular activities. There is something for everyone and they are great to build up your resume! I’ve also been able to be in classes to become a nail technician, thanks to the school working with ace. Senior: The summer before my sophomore year, I moved from New Jersey to South Carolina. As scared as I was, May River High School welcomed me with open arms and kind smiles. The teachers are very optimistic and want all of their students to succeed. Also CATE programs like Health Science (which I participated in) made school fun as you got to take classes aligned with your future career. However, with all the good there were some small items about the school I did not particularly enjoy. In New Jersey, my old high school had no dress code, but at May River there is one. The dress code is on the laid back side, but I wish I could express myself better and wear what I enjoy. Parent: Cross Schools is such a special school! We have three children attending three different levels and have been so pleased with the quality in education they’ve received preparing them for the next level. The low student:teacher ratios and small environment help the teachers really invest in their students and create healthy/authentic relationships with families. Students have various opportunities to participate in several extracurricular activities (both academic and athletic) throughout the school year all for the glory of God.
