Junior: Westonka is a school centered around caring teachers/staff and hard working students. Teachers here are always striving to make their students the best they can be. I truly believe each teacher genuinely cares for each student. My personal experience was that it is a small enough school that you know everybody and you are able to make friends easily. Since you are sharing multiple classes with the same people everyday, bonds become tight by the end of the year. Not only this, but Westonka offers unique activities for all types of people to participate in. The atmosphere at sporting events is incredible from football games in the fall to the basketball games into the early spring. This school offers fun activities such as Homecoming. The atmosphere of small school spirit can’t be underestimated here. It is exciting to see everybody enjoying Homecoming week and celebrating school pride. Junior: Teachers are knowledgeable are care deeply about students. A very substantial amount of teachers have graduated from Maranatha and have returned to teach. Although they don't get paid nearly as much as they would at a public high school, the teachers find this work as a form of ministry and I have never heard of such love for their students. I have never felt unsafe in this school. They have multiple armed security guards at all times during school and a few stay after hours. I am taking PSEO and am a semester in at Bethel University and feel extremely prepared for every class I'm taking. This school is very academically rigorous and definitely prepared me for college. I've heard about very deep bullying problems at other schools and it seems commonplace in our society but never in my nine years of attendance at Maranatha Christian Academy have I experienced bullying, it's just not in the culture. Parent: Minnetonka is an amazing school district. We attended for two years. Deephaven has fabulous resources and the gifted program (Wings) is very strong. Teachers are top notch and expectations for education is high. The only reason I give it four and not five stars is the people. I found the school to be unfriendly. You could meet the same parents a million times and they don't ever remember you. Or pretend not to remember you. Volunteering for class parties--you could be standing next to another parent and they don't even give you the time of day. There is NO diversity. I'm not Caucasian and it made me uncomfortable. We moved out of state and while my current district isn't as highly rated as Minnetonka, we are much happier with the welcoming nature of the school community and people--in a town that is just as affluent, if not more so....
