Works Here: Davis has a great school district. Davis, a small city with about 30,000 residents and 32,000 college, grad students and post Ph. D researchers make Davis a great place to live. The most bicycle-friendly city in the US. It attracts the best and brightest to move here to raise their families. The student population can't be beat. Senior: This school district really does care about helping their students succeed and making sure that they're ready for the next level. The diversity in this district is amazing for I haven't seen before knowing that some school districts have a large majority of one race. It has given me so many opportunities that I felt so blessed to feel like I was in a place where I could feel accepted and not judged by the color of my skin. I can't forget the school activities that occurred throughout the week! The sports, band, and clubs have allowed me to open out of my shell and go to these events and support not only my school but our district as well. I was even apart of my school's band, and I loved every single moment of it. However, I can say that I wish that some of the teachers were more understanding to us students knowing how we all have different ways of learning. that's the only complaint I have with the district which says a lot about how much I enjoyed being involved with them.... Senior: I've been a part of the SCUSD my whole life. They have always provided the materials needed for school and they always offer great benefits such as scholarships, jobs, and a great workplace for students. There have been problems over the years but they have always been able to resolve them as soon as possible. The teachers and staff members have always worked hard and pushed their students to preserve and work hard in life. Junior: Woodland high school is a very good school. Many kids in other school don’t get the opportunity that most kids in Woodland high school have. We have various different art programs, many ag mechanics and shop classes, we also have many classes for electives that many schools don’t have. My school isn’t a big school but our teachers are very supportive and guide us on the path to success. Our sports are always fun with all the parent involvement as well as all the students’ dedication. Alum: Delta High School, nestled in wine country and away from the big city. Delta was the small school shown in movies, where teachers knew every student and all students were friends with one another. We have an amazing agriculture culture, with the Future Farmers of American having a big presence. Additionally, we had very strong art classes. Junior: My experience at twin rivers has been amazing. The teachers and staff are very friendly and genuinely want their students to succeed; i’ve never felt more comfortable in a classroom setting before, but, The only complaint I have is the administration’s response to bullying and one-sided fights which, from what I’ve seen, their usual response is to punish both parties instead of the instigator(s).
