Junior: This school gets a lot of attention for the successes of its students and faculty. Rightly so, as sports teams routinely go to State and students are generally high-achieving and talented. It’s definitely not perfect; namely, the fitness center is rather like a dungeon, but there’s on-going construction to improve areas like just that. As far as teachers, the physics department isn’t very good, but other than that, you will easily find very qualified and dedicated teachers who care a lot about their students and their learning. The students themselves are more diverse than you might originally expect in a white, wealthy district. Alum: I have been in the district from kindergarten to senior year of high school. Even though Elmhurst College is not a part of District 205, I attend the college in the area (soon to be university on June 2020. I've had great experience all though-out the twelve years and I made so many wonderful memories that I look back to. The teachers are helpful and caring in this district! Senior: What I've thoroughly enjoyed about my time at Downers Grove South (D99) are the connections I've made with students and teacher within the school community. I truly believe that there is a place for everyone at South and North and that everyone can find something to not only get involved in but also to help themselves and their community flourish. I've gotten a wonderful education from South and have met so many amazing people that challenge me to become a more mature, more focused, and more confident student. Specifically, I've loved the activities and unique opportunities at South, starting with its Choir and Speech programs which are second to none, as well as the abundance of other activities offered at the school. Junior: In my experience with Dupage 88, I have never felt unsafe or in danger. We have overall some pretty tough classes, especially AP classes. We have various resources to help with the heavy classes. The teachers are generally friendly and teach pretty well. There is a lot of diversity, and the school is very accepting of everyone. The facilities are normally decent but could use some work here and there. I feel like the sports teams could be improved. Especially the girl's sports. Additionally, I feel like the school could do more to prepare us for not only the academic part of college but everything else surrounding that. overall though no big complaints!... Read 19 reviews

Senior: I think that I had a good experience at Downers Grove South High School. I like how many clubs and activity that they would offer to the students. I really enjoyed the performances that were done by the clubs like dance, theater, etc or just performances from the school's choir, dance and cheer teams. I would also say I really enjoyed our sports games as while. They were just really fun and we would have themes for some of our sports nights. I like a lot of my teachers that I had throughout my 4 years at South. I do enjoy that my school tries to make everyone feel like they are welcomed and cared about at my school. During a lot of the Stop Asian Hate and Black Lives Matter movements, my school would email all of us and ask about how we are doing and just if we needed to talk to someone about the recent events going on in the world. And as a person of color, I really appreciate the school's effort of checking on the students even when we were outside of the school.... Read 19 reviews
