Senior: The Westlake school district overall is a very balanced place of education with a lot of opportunities as you travel your education path. As a student of Westlake I've always felt relatively welcome by the staff, never once being looked down upon. I've never felt bullied or attacked by other students and overall it's a rather calming place. As with every high school nothing is perfect and I can't say there's anything too outstanding about the school district either. It's just a nice community with a fantastic education, because that's where Westlake really excels. Westlake has some of the best teachers and resources in the area, while there are a lot of bad teachers in the non-honors track as an honors student I've felt that the vast majority of my teachers have a fantastic and unique way of teaching that really appeals on a per-student basis. Parent: Teachers make a school district outstanding. Teachers are the people that spend their days with kids, caring for and motivating them. The teachers in the Olmsted Falls City School District want students to succeed and they put in the time and effort to make that happen. My child has been supported and encouraged at school. I believe that her teachers have given her the confidence and courage to pursue her dreams. She is quiet and shy in a school setting. She doubts herself and her abilities. It was her teachers that got her to speak up, to believe in her skills, to get involved in school activities and to feel positive about herself. Parents can be supportive and motivating but children need affirmations outside of their own homes. They spend a great deal of time at school so it's very important that they be with people who build a foundation for success both academically and in character. Parent: It’s amazing, would recommend. My children love it here. It is almost as good as a private school but it’s public. Probably one of the best school systems in Ohio. Senior: While I will admit, Midview isn't perfect - we have no AC in our HS, we had a mold issue a few years ago, and many other random things that have occurred from Kindergarten to now...my senior year- I've never felt a better sense of community and family than I did being a Midview Middie. The teachers become parental figures and mentors to you over the years, the students are supportive and have so much pride and school spirit, and the leadership team at Midview tries their best to make it a safe and fun learning environment for all the students. There are teachers I had when I was 10, that still talk to me and keep tabs on me to see how I'm doing. I have so many friends that come to all my events outside of school, and their parents gladly tag along to support me- and I'd do the same for them. After being a Middie, I'll never doubt that when I come home from going and living my dreams, I'll be welcomed back with open arms support from the community. So as we like to say... Go Middies!... Senior: I went to Columbia High all 4 years of high school and I wouldn’t change a thing. The teachers, staff, school spirit and sports teams are all exceptional. Some things that could be improved upon are the food quality and the ethnic diversity. Senior: Elyria schools gets talked down all the time, but I have been enrolled in Elyria Schools District since I was in kindergarten. I am forever grateful for all the support and reassurance Elyria Schools have given their Pioneers. The staff at Elyria not only cares about giving you an education, but help you succeed. If you are willing to put forth the effort to graduate and continue moving forward with your life. They will be there for you every step of the way. Senior: The school is great and encourages its students to succeed the best they can. There is a great support system with the teachers and other peers. They have an amazing humanities department. The school also offers a lot of AP courses which are all taught extremely well. One thing I would like to see change is the funding and support within the arts.
