Senior: Lexington High School has allowed me to further my academic career and gave me the resources I needed to prepare thus far for life after high school. Not only do I find the academics at Lexington High School to maintain great variety and challenge, but I also think that the school does a wonderful job of taking into account the student's feedback within specific classes or regarding specific professors. One thing that I think Lexington High School could improve on is their accessibility to mental health resources. Throughout my four years at Lexington High School, I often found that access to speak with teachers or counselors was limited unless you had already formed a strong relationship with said person. Another thing that I think Lexington High School could improve on is their overall treatment of students participating in the METCO program. Sophomore: Personally, I liked the location of the district, especially in the suburbs. I enjoyed going downtown with friends and hanging out afterschool in town center. Amongst my classmates, I didn't know everyone, but I was comfortable going to school and not worrying about being bullied. I also liked the facilities, as they are pretty new and they seem welcoming for students. The academic environment is fairly competitive, and everyone is overly busy, so mental health struggles and peer pressure is extremely normal. I loved my teachers, but I've also had some who didn't care at all, and hated their job. This made their class unenjoyable, but these unpleasant memories are concealed by the majority of my experiences with lovely teachers. There is also a vaping issue, and I wished the school took bigger measures to educate teenagers about the negative consequences from these habits. Senior: Attending Arlington High School has been awesome. I've had many great teachers, some are even friends. These have been knowledgeable, dedicated, and challenging, and I feel I’ve grown in response. I’ve also received helpful college counseling, and made lifelong friends. So the academic essentials are strong, including the music and theater programs, which are popular with the students. But AHS is not without problems. We really need a new building, but I understand that is in the works. Class scheduling and communication need to be improved. Audio announcements commonly disruptive classes. Senior: Burlington high school offers a great environment for all students to explore their interests. The staff offers a good friendly atmosphere for all students and this makes students feel safe and loved when in school. The facilities are well structured and offer a safe environment. Diversity is what makes Burlington high school different from other schools because students interact with each other without any racial discrimination and that brings togetherness not only in the school but also the community of Burlington. The clubs and activities in school offer students with a chance to take on leadership roles and also exchange ideas on how to promote and live in a positive environment. Senior: In general, Woburn teachers do their best in aiding students to excel. At Woburn High, sports and academics are equally weighted in importance. In my experience, the teachers at Woburn High are very understanding regarding homework and their students' schedules. Although conflict exists in every school, students remain respectful due to their upbringing in Woburn.. Similarly, the Kennedy Middle School ensures that it’s best and brightest excel without disregarding the less academically inclined. Additionally, the Altavesta Elementary School is a wonderful place for a child to learn. Even now I remember to say please and thank you due to the lunch ladies and bus drivers reminding us our manners. The teachers knew it was their job to raise us since we spent more time with them than our parents, and I am grateful for that. Parent: There is no such thing as a perfect world. Like any other school, there are pros and cons and there is going to be some negative as well as positive reviews. Parents have to weigh out what really matters to them. During the COVID-19 and pandemic era, the school handled the situation very tightly and there were low cases compared to other districts. Overall, the school environment is welcoming. From my family's personal experience, the teachers and staff we have met are very nice; you can tell when many staff and teachers have worked here for a long time and retire here. Currently, the town is spending almost 100M to renovate and add new construction to the Elementary and Middle Schools. This Fall 2022, all the grades will be moving back into the newly and renovated building and the kids are excited. There is opportunity to contribute in making positive changes in the school and community; however, one has to be proactive.... Read 4 reviews
