Salado Independent School District
#128 Best School Districts in Texas
- School District
- Salado, TX
Senior: I began attending school at Salado freshman year. It was kind of scary, but pretty exciting. I played volleyball and basketball so before the year had begun, I had already met some friends and had people around during the school day to help me get familiar with everything. That's how I met my best friend! Throughout high school, we've enjoyed laughing and watching games together, cheering on our siblings at sports games, inside jokes, complaining about homework, spending time together while also learning, and enjoying the adventure of growing up.
At Salado, I appreciate that the faculty know and care for the students and help encourage us to achieve goals in our academics, sports, and personal development.
I would like to see more teachers who are unbiased towards their "favorites" and treat everyone with the same respect, however, for the most part, the overall experience is one full of memories, lessons learned, and great times that students will remember long after they graduate.

Killeen Independent School District
#703 Best School Districts in Texas
- School District
- Killeen, TX
Alum: I was a student with Killeen Independent School District from pre-K up until Senior year. This district is great for challenging students to succeed, by offering numerous programs such as STEM and International Baccalaureate. I would like to see more programs that help students prepare for college at the high school level. I would also liked to see the district set some kind of requirement for all students in high school to list their career goals. By this action, I feel students will have a better mind set, as they will work hard in high school to attend college to achieve their career goals. Overall, great district!

St. Luke's Episcopal School
- Private School
- San Antonio, TX
- PK, K-8
Parent: We recently moved to the area in the summer 2016. My boy's attended a top (nonparochial) private school in the midwest, and they did not want to leave. It only took 3 weeks before they called St. Luke's home! The teachers and administrative staff are very engaged with the students; they know all of the kids and partner with the parents to form the whole child. When I asked my boys what makes St. Luke's different than their last school, they told me that the teachers explain things better. The curriculum is appropriate for my boys; they are not overwhelmed by homework or exams, although they are challenged. They provide lunch daily. The extended day and after school activities are great! The diversity at this school is wonderful; no matter what background you come from (religiously or ethnically), this school will embrace you. I highly recommend St. Luke's!
