Junior: Great school district! I have been enrolled now for six years. Starting in 6th grade and now entering my junior year of high school, I think it's great. It has amazing opportunities such as the Keller Center for Advanced Learning, where I am currently studying to become a CNA and further myself in the medical career field. I am so lucky to be in this district. I went to middle school at Timber View and couldn't have asked for a better experience. My freshman and sophomore years of high school were spent at Timber Creek which is also a phenomenal school, and now I am attending Central, hoping for a great year. Senior: I've been in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District my whole life. I went to elementary school at Spring Garden and Meadow Creek, attended junior high at Harwood, and am currently enrolled at Trinity High School. This school district is among the top in Texas due to its academics, diversity, and high graduation rate of 99.5%. As far as academics go, HEBISD is unique because of the high level classes and programs that are offered like the International Baccalaureate Program or the BCTEA classes. HEBISD is also special because of its Spanish Immersion Program. I was in this program for 9 years and felt like I learned a lot about the language and culture. I personally have enjoyed growing up in this district because it's a very personal and community-based environment. I've always felt comfortable and encouraged by my amazing teachers and staff. Senior: Mansfield ISD just started this new thing called College, Career, and Readiness program to ensure that students are academically prepared for college, trade school, and life. This new program has changed the whole outlook on education because now students are required to take these classes and if they don’t pass the class they cannot graduate high school. To some it might sound unfair because for some people school is just not their thing, but that’s okay they want students to be well rounded. Parent: Great school district. One on one teaching and not overcrowded in classes. Counselors are awesome! AVID program really prepares the students for the future and they are so involved with the students interests and academics. I love the fact Boswell is very informative with everything is going on in the schools. Parents are so involved when they are informed. Junior: I never fully appreciated schools in the NISD district until I came back from another school (a charter school). In my experience back to NISD, I had better care, education, and overall experience. I managed to go from C's and D's back to my usual average, A & B average when I came back to this district. Alum: the community of FWAFA is something that is difficult to describe to someone unless they have experienced it first hand. In college, I have found it a strange experience trying to tell stories of my middle school and highschool experiences and making it sound normal. Because nothing about FWAFA is normal. And that’s the beauty of it. FWAFA is a place to come and learn more about yourself through the guidance of caring teachers and wonderful artistic expression. While the academics are not the strongest, the connections you make with your educators is far more valuable. This is a safe space for anyone willing to be themselves. FWAFA is a school filled with connection, honesty, vulnerability, uniqueness, boldness, accountability, and expression. My time at FWAFA was wonderfully frustrating. Senior: I liked how there has never been a fight on campus, which is surprising since public schools are know for having kids starting drama and all sorts of shenanigans. The only complaint I have are that dress code and wearing a lanyard is made more important than the harassment I have seen on campus. I, for one, have been trailed and searched for, videoed without permission, and even whistled at. It even upset me to hear from a close friend that teachers had talked about my appearance. School is not only a place to socialize and learn, but a way to express oneself in a safe environment. Sophomore: I like that there are so many opportunities to get ahead with school. I was able to take HS classes during my 8th grade year at JH. Now that I'm entering my sophomore year, I am ahead of the game, so to speak. I also like all the athletic opportunities that are available to everyone, there is a sport or activity for just about everyone! The staff is very knowledgeable about the content that they are teaching, and they really try to make connections with us. Junior: Honestly, my overall experience of GPISD is pretty good. Don't get me wrong, there are a few people who make the experience here bad, but that's just how it is everywhere else. There are always those few who ruin things for everyone. However, there a numerous things that make this district good. First, the district is very strict on security: watching people who enter the schools, making sure everyone wear IDs, no hoodies on, and etc, although annoying to most students. Second, many people don't know this, but this is one of the few district who PAY for AP tests. Students are not required to pay $60+ dollars to take it, it is al for free, payed by the district, and I know some very hardworking people who work behind the scenes to make this happen. Senior: The faculty and staff at Azle ISD is exceptional. The teachers and administrative staff work hard every day to ensure every student is safe and getting the proper education at our schools. School safety can be a very big deal these days, and I am confident that Azle ISD does the most to ensure student safety. One downfall is that we are considered a small town, but our schools tell a different story. Hallways can become very crowded as well as lunch tables. Another issue that is present is our school's diversity. I feel that we are not a very diverse school at all. I would love to see that change. Senior: Overall I had an amazing experience in high school. The teachers created different social and educational situations each day, which pushed me to think outside of the box. At the beginning of the year almost all my teachers made us do an ice breaker to get to know our classmates better. Them doing this introduced me to different people, and it helped me adjust to my learning environment. Not only are the teachers amazing, but also the schools themselves. A few Fwisd schools were just recently renovated, so everything better enhances the student lifestyle. But with the new building comes unexpected technology issues, like interrupted wifi which has now been corrected. While the new architecture has its issues, the pros out way the cons. The conditions from the existing structures were outdated. So the upgraded buildings were much needed. Senior: My experience at Castleberry high school is amazing. I have met many wonderful people. The teachers are nice and care for their students especially during this pandemic. This district is very good at emailing parents right away if something happens and also have quite very good security. The school district does have a backpack policy that only allows clear or mesh backpacks which I think is good. It has not been a problem for parents and students since. Alum: What I liked about the Everman Independent School District is that they allowed everyone to be themselves. The teachers that been there for years, have so much heart and want to see all the kids prosper. What I didn’t like about the school is the food choices in the cafeteria. Also, I didn’t like how they didn’t provide classes that would better prepare students for after graduation. Courses like business management, money management, how to build credit, or how to invest.
