Parent: My daughter started attending Scattergood as a freshman and it has been the best experience for her academically, socially and for her mental health as well! She is challenged academically, accepted for who she is at Scattergood and flourishes as a person. She has a wonderful and diverse group of friends. When coming back from a weekend at home as we pulled into the driveway, she said - "It's Scattergood, my favorite place in the world." Alum: I loved the six years that I have spent at Norfolk Academy. The spirit, involvement, and social life were amazing. The resources and academics that this school provides also I believe are second to none. The school taught me how to juggle academics, athletics, social life, and home life. I believe that in that sense, the school prepared me very well for the future. However, I hope the arts programs, including the broadcasting program, improve. Field day was also another event that I enjoyed. Even though I went through some years without field day due to covid, the years that I was able to attend the event were the most fun. As an alum, one aspect of the school that I love is the amount of involvement that the school allows for alums. For example, the academic opportunities such as internships that the school provides are very useful. I am very fortunate to have an opportunity to participate in an internship through them.... Parent: The curriculum is strong, with students working above grade level in many subjects. Teachers set high expectations and then help each child achieve those goals in a warm and nurturing environment. Each day students’ folders are filled with the work that they have completed so that parents can be informed of their child’s progress. Any obstacles are handled at early stages and the child is treated with the utmost respect every step of the way. The emphasis on STEAM is helping to prepare students for a successful future. Every member of the staff knows each kid--not only their names, but their individual personalities. Additional benefits of ACE include smaller class sizes, character development, a uniform that minimizes drama in the mornings, responsive staff, and an exceptional facility.
