Senior: My favorite part about Biloxi School District was the way they made us feel at home instead of at school. They've always done their best to do everything they can for their students whether its helping with grades, helping with mental health, helping with attaining food, or simply helping brighten your day. There is always bound to be a student or a teacher in Biloxi Public Schools that is willing to help you make it through that day, that week, and the school year. Senior: I've lived in Ocean Springs since my fourth grade year (2014), I am now a senior. Before living here I lived in Louisiana where I went to two other schools. Those schools weren't the best in my opinion. They were too strict for our age. In my first school they got rid of recess when I was in kindergarten, and my second school was really strict to the point that they didn't allow us to talk during lunch, and if we did we'd get written up. When I moved here I saw a very noticeable difference with the overall environment. Everyone was a lot happier, from the students to the teachers. I felt like I had a lot of opportunities that I previously didn't have. I later joined the band and started to push myself more academically, and for my years of High School I've taken only Honors and AP classes. I'm also in the AP Program. Alum: When I moved into the Petal School District, the entire staff was all hands on deck to make sure my transition was as smooth as possible. Even though the curriculum is rough, the school is just preparing for what is to come after school. With a show choir that is 5th in the nation, a band that is 3rd in Mississippi, and an indoor percussion theater that is 15th in the world, PSD’s Fine Arts Department is no disappointment. Alum: I absolutely loved my experience at Pearl. There were opportunities for everyone to be involved. There are endless amounts of groups, sports, clubs, etc. Whether you're interested in a foreign language, e-sports team, band, choir, cheer, dance, archery, track, role playing games, etc, there is something for you. Everyone at Pearl is so welcoming. I never felt unsafe or not cared about. Even if my own parents couldn't make it to a game to support me, I would have a teacher or administrator cheering me on. There is no place like Pearl. It will always be home for me. Despite Pearl being a large district, I never felt unnoticed. Even today, I am still connected with my old teachers and administrators. Junior: Pass Christian High School has been great for me due to it's small class sizes and wonderful teachers. I have enjoyed being involved in many clubs and organizations such as Beta Club, National Honor Society, FCCLA, Student Leadership Program, Mu Alpha Theta, and the varsity tennis team. The choices of extracurricular activities are many and students can find something for them easily if they choose to. I feel safe at school because we have on site officers. Junior: Oxford high school is a very good school! I would say the counselors are not the best. The block scheduling (4 class periods every day for 1.5 hours each: new schedule after 1 semester) is really annoying when considering ACT preparation and AP classes. Senior: Enterprise High School was an amazing start to my education journey. Enterprise is a small town which makes our school tight nit. Everyone knows each other and we are all very close. Senior: Booneville Schools has been a great school to attend. I love all of my teachers with all of my heart. However, the administration is way too concerned with the athletics program. I feel like the teachers want to teach, but the administration does not care as much about academics as they do sports. Students in athletics get special treatment, which is not fair to students who focus solely on having good grades. Athletic students have to be included in everything, so if their schedule conflicts with another club, then whatever the club has planned is canceled until they can find a time that works with the sports schedule. Alum: I was given many opportunities both academic and athletic. We were the first school in our county to be assigned our own chrome book. This prepared us to be abled to adapt easily to the virtual learning which was the result of the pandemic. I played volleyball for five years and was a cheerleader for six years. I was cheer captain both my eighth grade year and my senior year. Our cheer team was the state title in our division my Sophomore year and second place my junior year. Senior: Corinth High School has been good to me throughout my career. I would say the academics are the high point at this school. The classes get us more than ready for college which is very helpful and gives us an advantage when compared to students from other schools. The sports have been historically good and were even good to me in my four years of high school. We do the AICE program and not the typical AP classes. Senior: Being apart of this school district has definitely given me opportunities of a lifetime! I am apart of what I think is one of the best bands in the state for sure, and I give all of the thanks to the administration for blessing me with the right educators to encourage and solidify what I think is going to be my lifetime career! I will say though, coaches should be required to have at least a knowledgeable background in some educational since some are placed to teach some classes that students need in order to graduate!
