Alum: My experience with the Hawai'i Department of Education (HIDOE) was, indeed, "very good". I feel very privileged to have been educated in such a culturally rich and diverse community by many qualified educators who are devoted to teaching and preparing the keiki of Hawai'i for the real world. I learned an immense amount of life skills during my time in the HIDOE, especially about the importance of sustainability and caring for the environment. That said, there were also some things the HIDOE presented to me that I would like to see improved. Though there were many qualified educators in our schools, there were just as many that were unqualified. The HIDOE is notorious for being in extremely high demand of teachers across the state, and a result of this is the employment of any person who is willing to fulfill the duties of being a teacher, minus the proper credentials. This sporadic employment left me and many other students learning subjects along with our "teacher" in charge.... Read 77 reviews
