Senior: New Canaan High school not only pushes and challenges each student who attends their school but also creates a safe place where gifted minds can comfortably voice their questions and concerns. NCHS does an amazing job instilling a competitive edge within each person who walks the halls of the school. Parent: Wilton is well known for having excellent schools with incredible music programs. Very safe schools with some of the best teachers in the state. However if your child(ren) qualify for gifted, there isn't a lot that is done to address gifted students' learning needs. Both my girls are in elementary school and tested gifted. We try to address their learning needs by putting them in a diversity of after school activities and travel abroad in the summer. Senior: Ridgefield High School is a great school with challenging academics, expansive club choices, and sufficient support for students that may fall behind academically. The faculty, for the most part, is excellent and the teachers are all experienced, qualified, and likable. I have both kids who are excelling in their level of grade and are being challenged to get better. Parent: Our experience has been one of caring and accomplished teachers who guide students to realize their greatest potential. We have found diverse and exceptional athletic and artistic opportunities which provide opportunities for all children. There are extensive and supportive wrap around services. The Guidance programs offer students a real world template and help right size a path that is appropriate for each child. As a parent of a junior, I have been pleased to find the districts college prep activities a perfect balance of communicating opportunities with empowering students to take ownership of their own futures. Overall we have found wonderful sense of community and Tiger Pride! Students support each other and their extracurricular activities and we have found this is reinforced as early as elementary school. They celebrate each other and encourage positivity. Senior: East Lyme School district is very welcoming to all races, genders, and ethnicities. The school has many different options of classes to encompass many different desires. Senior: In my experience at Fairfield Warde high school, I have made very strong connections through friends and teachers. My teachers and advisers have prepared me very well for college. However, the facilities could use some updating. My father also went to Warde when he was a teenager. In the building, only one third of the school has air conditioning. This is especially brutal during the fall and spring. It is hard to concentrate in a classroom that makes you sweat. Among this major facility issue, there are several other little issues within bathrooms and public spaces. Besides the actual building, the teachers are very nice and caring. Junior: I can’t say enough about Trumbull High School. It is a great school. They focus not only on the success a student strives for today but their future success. They provide the education and tools needed to prepare students for the next phase of their young adult lives. Along with Academics they have one of the best music and theater programs. The marching band program competes at the highest level. They have performed at many large events including the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade which speaks to the level of talent. Another outstanding program includes RCA, Regional Center of the Arts where students spend some of their school day majoring in either music, dance, or theater. I’ve never seen such amazing talent. They have the best concert I’ve ever seen for high school students. Trumbull High School also has an Agriscience school where students in the program spend a few periods a day majoring in animal science, biotech, etc. Students can even receive college credit to UCONN.... Alum: I'm an Alum of the South Windsor School District. During my tenure I attended Wapping Elementary School(closed, K-5), Timothy Edwards Middle School(6-8) and South Windsor High School(9-12). All three schools were challenging academically and pushed me in order to be equipped for college. In fact, I wish I took more advantage of the college preparatory classes than I did. South Windsor has a fantastic music program, that is dedicated to its students and allows them to grow starting in the 4th grade until they graduate High School. The technology in the schools were also very good. Timothy Edwards(middle school) was renovated in the early 2000s and still has state of the art technology. The town recently approved renovations to all 4 elementary schools in town. All are or will be state of the art facilities once complete. My only critique of South Windsor School District is the diversity. My sister and I who both attended SW had 1 combined black/African American teacher... Read 25 reviews

Senior: loved the school and the teachers. Great community of peers, the academic portion was always good. They keep students on track for their school/college goals. My mother attended Reg 8 as well, she has said the school has done great improvements since her school days. There are no bullying policies which are strictly enforced and no child left behind, it keeps all students on the same path and nobody feels left out and nobody is treated differently.
