Fargo Public Schools
#4 Best School Districts in North Dakota
- School District
- Fargo, ND
- Rating 4.11 out of 5 81 reviews
Senior: I attended Longfellow Elementary School, Ben Franklin Middle School, and am currently a student at Fargo North High School. Overall I've had a very positive experience with Fargo Public Schools. Longfellow had a very inclusive and welcoming environment with a big focus on literacy and hands on learning. At Ben Franklin the teachers seemed a bit apathetic but there were really great music and math programs. At the high school level there are many academic and extracurricular activities including approximately 15 AP classes and over 40 clubs, sports, and other activities. The counseling center focuses primarily on North Dakota colleges and scholarships so extra effort is required to find national opportunities. The food isn't spectacular but it is nutritious and there are generally a few options to choose from. I would say what makes FPS special is the teachers. I have had wonderful teachers throughout my education who have supported my academic, extracurricular, and personal pursuits.

Parent: I felt the education was very strong in Moorhead. There were excellent advanced classes for my daughter who was in many AP classes and this helped her on her ACT tests. My son has special needs and the Special education department was excellent from early intervention all the way through high school. After moving to the twin cities after they graduated, I realized even more how excellent these services were compared to what was available in many of the suburban schools I hear about from parents. My relatives who also teach special ed in Wisconsin called my son’s special services in Moorhead “the Cadillac” version.
