Junior: Overall, the Maize Unified School District is great for those looking to provide their children with a solid education. My personal experience with the Maize District has been mainly positive. The community of teachers here are welcoming and kind, and the quality of education is excellent. Maize High School in particular offers many college level classes that allow their students a headstart on their academic journeys which have proved extremely helpful to many alumni and graduating students. Senior: I have been attending school in Goddard since the first grade, so I do not know what outside schools are like, but I am very grateful to have attended Goddard. The teachers at my school are carefully chosen, and most of them genuinely care and actively show that they want their students to succeed. One thing that could be improved upon is the quality of the technology provided by the school. Senior: I loved every part of my experience in the Renwick school district. I loved going to a small high school and being involved in so many activities. The school is big enough that you have access to a wide variety of academic options and extra-curricular options, yet small enough that you know the names of everyone that attends. A small school also has a great sense of pride in their community and is supported strongly by its community members. It also allowed me to partake in many service learning opportunities, in which I was able to give back to my community in a small way for all that it has done for me. The size of my school, also allowed me to be active in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities ranging from sports, to band, to an active member of many clubs. I love my small town high school and hope to return someday to raise a family of my own in this community and school district. Senior: I have been going to Valley Center public schools since I transferred hear in 4th grade. It’s a great school district to be apart of especially if you are apart of fine arts and athlete if extracurriculars. The band program is highly competitive and we participate in events such as marching band, district and state wide honor band, district/league contest, and many other opportunities that come along the way. The football program is also coming into its own. This year, we finished 5-3 our second winning season since the 2000’s itself! When it comes to academics Valley Center takes the cake! The classes are challenging and the teachers who work there engage you into the subject that you are in. There’s always something new to learn at Valley. Parent: I am a mother of 6 kids who all have attended Halstead we have has kids go all the way through the grades, and in every grade we have had nothing but positive experiences . I am also an alumni and I loved my time there as a student. Halstead's staff is amazing with the highest quality teachers who truly want what is best for their students. Halstead also has a lot to offer for activities from sports to choir to band to forensics and much more. For a small school Halstead is top notch. One of the benefits of a small school is the teacher to student ratio and customized learning for the students. Senior: Clearwater is a great place in general. It's very tight-knit, and it isn't surprising considering the size. Around 100 people per class, so students get plenty of one-on-one time with teachers if they need it. Teachers of core classes enjoy challenging their students and pushing them to the next level and beyond where they expect themselves to be. The arts programs are amazing, especially considering the lack of funding from the state. The arts department staff do amazing things with the little they have and continually impress everyone who sees their work. It isn't a very diverse place, but no small town is. In my opinion, Clearwater is one of the best districts I've seen and I would recommend it to anyone trying to find a good arts program or academics that will push students.... Read 11 reviews

Senior: The amount of organizations you get involved in really affects your experience. I threw myself into 5 club meetings a week and while it was stressful at times, I also had a lot of fun. You are able to meet people with the same interests and form amazing friendships. The best part of attending Northeast Magnet is the community. All the teachers want to help you succeed and a majority of the students are very nice. However, small schools aren't for everyone. We don't have sports so transportation is vital for athletes to practice and play at their neighborhood schools. Location wise we are also in an inconvenient spot. Not many people live around the school so it is a trouble for some people to attend after school events like e-sports practice or theatre rehearsals. Overall, Northeast Magnet is a good spot for anyone who really wants to get involved in their school. Our many organizations provide tons of opportunities including internships and scholarships.... Senior: I love Belle Plaine for how small of a community it is. I love that I get to know everybody and everybody knows me. It's very easy to be involved in all the different activities and community events. At Belle Plaine, I've gotten a lot of opportunities to be in leadership positions. I thoroughly enjoy our classes and teachers. The good thing about a smaller school is that you have a good chance at playing sports. On the other hand, something that I would change about Belle Plaine would be expanding its sports program to include wrestling and soccer. I have found out that a lot of kids would play those sports if they were available to them. Some people aren't great at basketball, but wrestling would be an excellent fit for them. Others may not be great at football or volleyball, but they could very well fit in on a soccer team. I believe that these programs would get more student and community involvement.... Read 5 reviews
