Junior: Alamo Heights Independent School district (AHISD), has an extremely high level of academics. For high school specifically, this school has an infinite amount of resources for students to succeed in this school, and after it. Coming from a student who transferred this year, I have never seen so many resources available for you to do good. This school gave me more access to help from experts, college research, and accessibility to AP/IB classes. It is a competitive school, but this school makes students want to be better. Junior: Being new to Boerne High School as an incoming junior, I did not expect the environment of students and staff to be so friendly and helpful! My counselor was always very supportive in my academic needs, and many of my teachers were eager to help. I found my home in the theatre department of BHS; it was AMAZING. There's also some great events the school has to boost morale, and sports events get really exciting. Overall, most teachers push you to be your best self and there's something for everyone at Boerne High, whether it be the art, architecture, floral design, student leadership, math clubs, and much more. Freshman: Lackland Independent School District is a small school, which is a positive. I enjoy the low student teacher ratio, the academic support, and I feel safe because the school is on a military installation. The school also offers a variety of sports and extracurricular activities. Of course, It would be nice if there were more food options for breakfast and lunch, more information about scholarships for college and more support for athletics. Junior: When I first moved into this district back in 2019, I didn't know what to expect, but surprisingly enough, the schools I've gone to here have been one of the better parts of my life. There's a wide variety of classes to choose from in the middle school I went to (J. Frank Dobie Jr. High School) and the high school I'm attending now. (Byron P. Steele II High School.) Although the teachers are not always the greatest, most of the teachers I've had have been really kind and welcoming towards me. I also heard the district have their own separate social medias for all fine arts in all of their schools, and I'm mentioning this because I'm in String Orchestra. I think it's a nice touch. I really like how supportive our community is here. There's a whole lot of ways for parents to get involved while their kids are participating in other schools activities as well, which is nice to see. Junior: I honestly love my high school, our sports programs are full of award winning strong personalities and our art programs put on better shows in dance, band and theatre, than many others I’ve seen. The teachers here are motivated to actually teach and make a difference in the lives of the students they teach. I have made strong connections with many of my former teachers. Many of my teachers have helped make a difference in my life including helping with my college application process and with improvement of myself as a human being. I have become a very interactive person through the help of many supervisors at Medina valley. The social workers are also very helpful and make it easier and stress free to work through trauma and personal issues. Sophomore: Northside is more or less a very good school district. The teachers for the most part are always there ready to help and are very friendly. The academics are really good and they offer amazing high school magnet programs. Such as Science and Engineering, Construction, Law and Medical Services, Business and Technology and lastly Health Careers. I attend the Science and Engineering Academy and I personally love it. The program is challenging but is 110% worth it. The middle schools are amazing and offer high school credit classes to start your GPA and get ahead on classes. The elementaries are amazing and they keep up the curriculum while also creating a friendly enviorment. Senior: My school experience with Harmony Public Schools has been full of opportunities and success. What really allowed me to feel so happy and successful here was the academic options and opportunities offered here. While there was a limit to AP classes, there was a plethora of Dual Credit classes that allowed to excel in my grade and learn higher level skills. The academic curriculums, teaching ethics, and teachers made my school experience beneficial and enjoyable as I felt I was getting a proper education. As we have smaller class numbers, I was in a tight knit community that made me feel at home and comfortable with who I was surrounded with. They also instill academic and personal values through listed character traits, specifically in my school in Laredo going by the school mascot called "H.A.W.K.S" : Honesty, Acceptance, Wisdom, Kindness, and Success. Alum: I attended Marion ISD since second grade, and I am proud to say that I am a Marion Bulldog. The schools have incredibly well kept facilities, and the school district itself has had an influx of funding. There are plenty of new facilities in development. The one place the schools lack though, is in the field of the arts. However they have a great Ag and sports programs. The staff are all incredibly friendly and passionate. Middle School Student: It's a pretty decent school, but it really caters to a specific type of student. I have peers who struggle because they won't put in the time or effort to do their work. The only thing I think needs to change is administration. This 2016-2017 school year was the first year that I've been here (I've been going here since the 2013-2014 school year) where I felt they weren't scared to hold back students and I think it's great. The students that I personally knew that were held back were students who deserved it. However, I feel like they're still too lenient. There are students here who never put in any effort and horrible towards their teachers, yet they're still allowed to attend there even though they should have been expelled a long time ago. They always tell us that "we are lucky to go here because their waiting list is currently long and that they could easily replace us." Senior: I moved to this school district about 2021 and have had a overall great experience although there can stuff that can be changed. One big thing is communication. Me and my parents usually have to manually look up for information regarding anything that happens in our school. Also during any major events, most of the time my parents have to hear from me rather than the school which shouldn't be something that a school district lacks. Education wise the teachers at my school and the other schools in the district are amazing. Senior: Brooks Academy of Science and Engineering empowered and equipped me with high-quality education. To expand, a variety of college credit courses are offered. Such as, English Literature, Government, Biology, etc. The teachers are passionate in providing quality education to students. For example, they will take the time to explain a particular subject to a student in need. There is much diversity. Brooks Academy makes safety a top priority. Senior: My experience at Seguin High School has been very good. I have been going to school here for almost four years and I have learned so much. I moved here coming into my freshmen year and it was the best thing for me. I made so many new friends and the teachers were so understanding and easy to talk to. This school also has many different classes that I never knew school's could have like Psychology and Cosmotology. My old school did not offer those things. I have learned so much about myself going to Seguin High School. For example, how social I actually am. Seguin is a very big school with a large amount of students in each grade and I have found that I easily can make friends and be more social than what I thought. Seguin High School offers the early college program that helps you get your Associates Degree in high school.
