Works Here: Davis has a great school district. Davis, a small city with about 30,000 residents and 32,000 college, grad students and post Ph. D researchers make Davis a great place to live. The most bicycle-friendly city in the US. It attracts the best and brightest to move here to raise their families. The student population can't be beat. Sophomore: Love how they prepair you for college. The teachers are always nice and have there best interest out for you. They also make sure you understand everything that is going on. There is many classes to choose from including electives and AP classes which I am currently taking AP European History. There is many clubs and activities to choose from also, I look forward to taking Student Governemnt. I also think it is nice how they provide us with chromebooks and the library is always open to do homework and use the wifi if needed. Sports are always fun to watch and participate in. They are always a way to be social and be a part of the school even if you are not actually in a certain sport. The safety is always nice too they talk about and there is security always on campus. The food is pretty good there is usually a few different options and choices. Senior: It was a great experience and my school, Whitney, specifically created a lot of events to make students feel welcomed and cared for. The programs on campus were very strong and a lot of it was a good time. However they have repeatedly forgiven and turned a blind eye to a lot of hate speech, bullying, and inappropriate actions. There was a report of a students repeatedly slurring the N word, and several black students expressed that it made them uncomfortable. Senior: The Folsom-Cordova Unified School District has been very welcoming and inviting to me and other students I have talked to. They have always offered me all the classes I wanted and I have no complaints about the teacher, faculty, and students in the school district. I feel that I have always been treated with the utmost respect from the school district. If there was one change I would like to see, it is that I believe counselors could be more involved with students and help educate them more about the college application experience. Junior: The Elk Grove Unified School District provides students with a great and thriving enviornment to learn in. They are able to concentrate on their work and be open to many different oppurtunities like no other district. From my experience, Sheldon High School, one of the high schools in this district, provides students with a variety of sports, art fields, and extracurriculars that fit everyone students' interests. The administrative staff is considerate/sufficient but there seems to be a lack of ethnic diversity when it comes to the higher positions. Senior: In WPUSD High Schools, a lot of interesting AP Classes are unavailable in this district. The engineering program is split from the larger computer science pathway between schools regardless of the fact that these 2 classes are largely intertwined. Besides these complaints, I have had a great time at these schools. Making friends is decently easily and it is not very competitive. Senior: Although I've had some troubles, I believe that no matter what school there will always be good and bad experiences. My previous experiences in Washington Unified had not been good, as I was bullied and outcast by both my peers and the staff, but after stepping away from the district for the entirety of middle, and most of high school, I returned to a school which not only welcomed me openly, but supported me through one of the hardest points in my academic career and mental health. Both the school counselors, and the teachers did a frankly awesome job helping me work through my lack of motivation, and having a great amount of patience with me that I appreciate endlessly. Junior: Woodland high school is a very good school. Many kids in other school don’t get the opportunity that most kids in Woodland high school have. We have various different art programs, many ag mechanics and shop classes, we also have many classes for electives that many schools don’t have. My school isn’t a big school but our teachers are very supportive and guide us on the path to success. Our sports are always fun with all the parent involvement as well as all the students’ dedication. Junior: My experience at twin rivers has been amazing. The teachers and staff are very friendly and genuinely want their students to succeed; i’ve never felt more comfortable in a classroom setting before, but, The only complaint I have is the administration’s response to bullying and one-sided fights which, from what I’ve seen, their usual response is to punish both parties instead of the instigator(s). Alum: I went here as a kid, from grades K-8. At the time, the school was fairly small, totaling about 300 students from kindergarten to 8th grade. The relationship between teacher and students was able to get more on a personal level and staff could actually spend more one-on-one with all students without giving favoritism towards several students....
