Senior: There are few school districts as good as Pleasant Valley's. The teachers care, the student body is surprisingly diverse, and the academics are challenging. The only reason I would not give my school 5 stars comes from my experience during the Coronavirus pandemic, where it became painfully clear that this school cares more for its athletic department than it does for the health and safety of its students.... Senior: I've been a member of this district since kindergarten. My experience with Paul Norton Elementary was very positive, I had excellent teachers and lots of friends. Bettendorf Middle School did a nice job of preparing me for high school and allowed me to start getting involved with several of the extracurriculars I am now in today, as a senior. Attending Bettendorf High School has been an overall positive experience for me as well. My teachers have all been very helpful, available, and clearly want me to succeed. I have had so many wonderful opportunites to get involved within the school, whether it be clubs, sports, or the fine arts. Lastly, a variety of challengings courses and dual credit enrollment opportunities are offered. Junior: North Scott has a very good bullying policy, in that it is a no-tolerant policy. This is a big change from the school I previously attended and moved from because of the bullying. Senior: Orion schools are part of a tight-knit community, which transitions to the school atmosphere, too. The teachers really care bout your success and are very kind. There are quite a few well-qualified teachers who enhance student's learning. However, Orion also has many under-qualified teachers. Another downside that affected me was that, since Orion is so small, they are not able to offer a large array of classes or diversity in its students. The lack of class options didn't set me up well for applying to college and scholarships because it looked like I didn't take specialized classes; when in reality, they didn't offer them. Senior: Overall, the instructors at Geneseo are great, and the administration is somewhat strict but fair. Plenty of extracurricular activities are available, especially for a school of around 900 students. Dual-enrollment college courses through Black Hawk College and AP classes are extremely helpful, and students typically score well. The school is always clean and feels safe. Senior: Overall, from kindergarten to my senior year, my experience in the Sherrard district and in the community has been very good. Since we do live in a smaller rural area, the majority of our schools are very close and everyone knows everyone. Throughout the years my teachers have pushed me to do my best. In 4th and 5th grade, I was dealing with many health problems. Throughout that time period, my teachers provided me with the proper materials to succeed. Alum: During my time at Riverdale Community Unit School District No. 100, i likes the experience of having Rams rewards. There would be a get together and our principle would hand out rewards to students on good grades or good attendance. In return, this had students wanting to do good in school and exceed the expectations of their teachers. I would like it if the school worked on the teachers. Alum: Moline Senior High School was a great school. I learned many things in all my classes and my teachers were great when it came to me needing a little extra help. I played soccer for three years and loved every minute of it. I was able to stay active while being pushed academically. The school offers many programs and events to keep us from overwhelming ourselves throughout testing periods. Now that I am in college, I believe Moline High School prepared me to be successful. Sophomore: I am currently a student in this school district. The schools are all very welcoming, and the teachers are supportive of every student. I have not had a problem with any teacher or school in this district. The counselors helped pave my way through high school, and I love this school district because I have developed many learning opportunities here. I have produced close bonds with the students in the schools and including school staff. There are many activities to choose and also scholarships that are achievable! The food served at lunch is also delicious. I think if there has to be something that needs to change, it would be more classes! I wish schools offered challenging courses. Parent: Clinton Community School District has a lot to offer students. The facilities are top notch and provide a variety of options for students to explore interests. The communication with parents is lacking, however I think the administration expects a lot out of their students and challenges them to take responsibility of their own destiny. Clinton has a diverse population allowing different cultures to be acknowledged and respected in a learning environment.
