Parent: My three sons graduated from Yarmouth and all went on to big colleges. Their college professors were impressed with their tested levels in math. They went into college at sophomore levels of classes and found college to be easier than high school. Expectations are very high at Yarmouth and can be stressful but it all pays off in the end. The schools prepare your child for the future. Hard to find such a small-town feel with such excellent education expectations in today's world. GREAT place to raise children.... Read 13 reviews

Senior: Good teachers and education. However some of them are outdated and not connecting to the upcoming students. The students themselves are for the most part studious and fit in well. Senior: It was a very engaging school to be apart of. Limitless clubs and activities and ways to feel welcome and included. Participating in varsity sports for all four years was enticing and an incredible part of my high school career. We even brought home a state championship at this time. We had a beautiful theater program. It is strong in academics. I would say that when you think of FHS, you think of academics. Passing never felt like it was enough, as everyone was an overachiever. These themes remained prevalent all thorough my years, as it felt very competitive to be the best at academics. It's something I had to adapt to, but it was well worth it in the end. I feel as though it overall prepared me to approach problems and demonstrate my understanding in a way that was unique and separate form my peers, all coming from high income families with a plethora of resources. Senior: I would love to see better food options at Scarborough High School. However, I have loved high school. Niche User: Although it is my first year of college, I have been influenced by the new setting and community that it has to offer. As it is known that higher education can improve health and wealth, I strive for these accomplishments while also learning about things that are of great interest to med. To reference professor's Bishop and Verleger, college provides a “unique combination of learning theories” (Berger, 511). I make great use of massive open online courses (MOOC), which help me complete school work without having to be physically present for a class. The diversity in the University of Southern Maine has exposed me to various cultures that I otherwise would not have purposefully exposed myself to. Alum: I went to Lincoln before the remodel and it was an awful structure. I am happy they remodeled it. However, my learning got better each year. I am thrilled I got an education with Portland Public schools. With classes like Intro to Education, critical race theory, and psychology. Senior: Harpswell Coastal Academy, or HCA, although very untraditional, is an absolute delight to learn at. I am a senior in high school, in my second year at HCA. Before HCA I homeschooled and before that I went to a tradition high school. Neither of these schooling options really felt like good accommodations for my learning style and they never really fit me as a person. However Harpswell Coastal Academy is a very accommodating school for students learning needs and emotional needs. Being a very small school with only around 170 students as of the start of this year, each teacher has more of an ability to bond with individual students and meet each of their individual needs....
