Parent: Sidwell has provided my children with an exceptional academic experience emphasizing critical thinking and problem solving, writing and communications, and quantitative reasoning. The workload has been substantial at times, but always enriching and interesting (i.e., rarely if ever busywork) and will fully prepare students for the rigors they'll experience in college and beyond. Parent: The Hill School is what every parent dreams a school should be for their child, but most wouldn't believe existed any longer. Hill School teachers are highly skilled educators who continually keep parents involved in their child's education and have the ability to teach students in such a way that they LOVE going to school. Children are given the opportunity to participate in sports, theatre, the arts, etc, with the intended goal of making each child well rounded in all areas of life. In addition, the core curriculum is excellent, with many hands-on experiences and outdoor learning and activities as an integral part of keeping children excited and engaged in the learning process. The faculty and staff are also amazing. Always available to listen and quick to help and solve whatever issues might arise. Parent: The curriculum is strong, with students working above grade level in many subjects. Teachers set high expectations and then help each child achieve those goals in a warm and nurturing environment. Each day students’ folders are filled with the work that they have completed so that parents can be informed of their child’s progress. Any obstacles are handled at early stages and the child is treated with the utmost respect every step of the way. The emphasis on STEAM is helping to prepare students for a successful future. Every member of the staff knows each kid--not only their names, but their individual personalities. Additional benefits of ACE include smaller class sizes, character development, a uniform that minimizes drama in the mornings, responsive staff, and an exceptional facility.
