Freshman: Arlington is a fast growing community with fabulous schools. The teachers within Arlington Community Schools are amazing and dedicated to your success, your classmates are a little competitive but even more supportive, and there are so many things to do and classes to take. Alum: The best part about the Desoto County School District is how well put together the community is and the organization of the school. The teachers always put the students first and gave plenty of opportunities for grade improvement. Another positive aspect is the fact that the district is still expanding new businesses around these schools for more out of school friendly activities around the neighborhood. There’s not much negative to say about the school district other than the fact that some sports don’t get recognized as much down here, and there are some really good players who are slept on in this district, but a positive comes with that because all athletics are growing in the district as well. Senior: A really good school! They offered a good range of classes and the majority of the teachers were well-educated & many made me love their subject. The only downside to the school is that they had just spent millions of dollars in renovations, yet it really only appeals to onlookers and guests, not the students. Sophomore: My experience at Shelby County Schools was not a very good or a very bad experience. My time at Shelby County Schools has been a time of struggle due to the fact that they spend most of their fundings on the most useless "upgrades" in their schools. I have also struggled from their choice of programs, devices, and the curriculum being used in the schools. The curriculum revolves around the state issued tests and not on educating their students. The devices are very cheap, very slow, and very underpowered for the programs we are required to use. The worst of all are the programs. SCS use very outdated programs to "educate" students. The worst of them all is Pearson's "Test Nav" which takes around 30-50 minutes to download and is very slow and not optimized for the devices they supply us with and require us to use for their exams....
