Senior: The best descriptor of schools in the West Hartford Public Schools district is average. The music programs are well funded and have a low-stress environment. A critique I have regarding these schools is their handling of my physical health condition, not related to sports injuries. In my experiences with invisible, chronic pain, the administrators and counselors treated my struggles as a mental problem rather than a physical condition that resulted in a decline in my mental health. Junior: I moved into Simsbury in 3rd grade. Even as a third grader I could tell the difference between my old school and the Simsbury one. The teachers were more helpful, the people were more respectful. Now in the high school, I still love being in Simsbury. The high school offers so many electives and unique opportunities starting freshman year. You have many opportunities to make connections with professionals and learn about what you want to do after high school. Senior: I am studying in South Windsor schools from 5th grade onwards and they are very good academically, sportswise, college readiness with lot of AP classes and Honors classes. The best part is they have lot of very good teachers who helps students always during school hours and afterschool as well. I do not have any bad experience with elementary or middle or highschool. Parent: It’s a small town that tries very hard to give our kids what they need. There are many parents that are involved and vested in the cute of our kids. Senior: My experience at Bristol Central has been an overall fulfilling experience. When you get to know your teachers and get involved in what the school has to offer High school is a really great experience here. Senior: Overall Plainville schools has allowed me too further my education and provide opportunities that a lot of other schools don't provide. All the teachers I've had have prepared me to go into college and get into a career I enjoy and can help others with. The only thing I wish I saw more of within Plainville schools is better explanations about going into college. One of the main things I wish is that they started talking about college earlier with us, such as in middle school, to get us prepared for the application process. This would help a lot of students lower the amount of stress when given these applications and having to choose the college they plan on attending. Parent: Both my children graduated from region 10 and were MORE than prepared for college compared to other students they encountered in college. The teachers and staff go above and beyond in educating , preparing, and nurturing the students. It is a small school system and the atmosphere supportive and there is a strong sense of community in the entire school system. I am grateful to the teachers for the education my children received in region 10 especially in the advanced and AP classes. Although the diversity is an issue, I do not feel this negatively impacted my children. They were taught the importance of diversity at school and at home in the world around them and continue to grow because of that to be amazing human beings who contribute positively to society.... Senior: I go to Wethersfield public high school and I would rate the school overall 4.5 out of 5. This is a relatively high rating due to the fact that I live in a nice and well of part of the state so we have many sports facilities and many faculty members. My best experiences at school all come from interactions with the staff. Generally Wethersfield Public Highschool has very caring staff and try to help as much as possible. A recent example of this was when I needed help with colleges essay revisions and after asking I teacher I didn't know, they accepted and gave me great corrections. This showed how much staff are willing to help the students. My worst experiences all have to be with the culture and environment at the school. For whatever reason the students at school are hostile and very defense. During school many fights broke out, many of which led to police involvement. Other: Starting in 1995 all 6 of my children graduated from East Granby Public schools. They have all done well completing college and one in the Navy. So many great things to say about teachers and administration. Small town and they did a outstanding job. What the school lacks in extracurricular activities is more than made up by attentive teachers. There will always be parents with complaints . Senior: Going into my junior year of high school my parents decided to take me out of a magnet school and bring me back to my home town public school. Ever since coming back to public school in my hometown East Hartford I've had nothing but success. My teachers and supporting staff in our high school help me achieve my goals of becoming THAT student. I came into the school barely making a 2.0 GPA and my junior year at EHHS I made high honors and multiple honors. Today my senior year I made high honors first quarter and currently at 3.5 gpa. I've learned so much about becoming a team as well as learning to help supporting staff in the school to help me become a young adult. Senior: great school! very safe and close community. the only down fall is the lack of diversity and clubs. Needs to be more diverse that should have more students from different regions going to the school. More open choice students . Bolton is a small town so it's a very tight knit community within the school. The school has students from three different towns, Bolton, Columbia, and Hartford however the # of students from Bolton only is almost 95%. It is extremely clique-y because most students have known each other since kindergarten. Thankfully I am one of those and have been in the same class of friends since kindergarten. Teachers are very helpful and go out of their way for students. he staff is excellent and are always willing to stay after and help out anyone who needs it. Since it is a smaller school, teachers are able to work one on one with students. I had a great education and was able to get into one of the best schools in the country. academically they above....
