Senior: Davie County Highschool is very diverse. Most of the teachers are very understanding to situations. Not only do they care about you academic life they care about your personal life. Senior: As a senior in high school now, I can say that Guilford Country Schools certainly is a good county and/or district to enroll your child in. Although it is not perfect, no school is, and I believe that Guilford County has a lot to offer to its students. Throughout the last few years, I have seen a distinct difference in my grades, as well as my overall well-being. The amount of work the staff at the Early Middle College at GTCC has implemented in its students is truly very admirable, as I have gone from being a C/D student to becoming an A/B student in only 2 years. My teachers have prepared me for future classes as well, making sure I truly understood each concept in their classes, which helped me to become more successful in my college classes. Senior: I would like to see the curriculums updated. I enjoyed my basic math and English classes however I felt like social studies could use some refining. I feel as though my school district is well versed in sports and for the most part I believe that extra cuticular activities were very strong and made available to all students. I would like to see more efforts on the administrative aspect to help get students in contact with internship holders and help make students more aware of opportunities and scholarships available to them post graduation. I would also like to see or learn of ways to help students of lower income families acquire resources such as school materials in order that all students can come to school prepared to learn. Lastly, I would like to note that I have seen and observed vast improvements for inclusivity and diversity-the Davidson County School system now has a more larger interface with more diverse races and cultures than it once did.... Senior: This has some good schools, I just wish there was more funding for the public schools and more sports for the 6-12 schools. Senior: I really enjoy how the Yadkin County School systems rally together to support their students when they're in need. Over the last 6 years, all the schools in Yadkin County came together to support a foundation called "Race more for Macemore", which is a 5k run/walk in the middle of downtown Yadkinville; it was started when 19 year old Austin Macemore was battling cancer. He unfortunately lost his battle, but the organization continues on every year and donates it's earnings to students or community members battling serious health conditions. Everyone puts their school rivalries aside and come together to support their classmates for this event, and it's beautiful to see what humans can do when they work together for cause like this one.... Alum: I attended Asheboro High School during the midst of the pandemic and I feel as though that has a lot of pull on some of my scores. It’s no question learning during the pandemic was hard on a lot of people. My teachers gave a lot of work and expected a lot from us. While I admire the push, there was so much else going on that sometimes cheapened the learning experience. We were expected to teach and learn for ourselves more than we ever had been. Senior: Personally, I loved attending stokes county schools for my junior and now my senior year. The teachers at west stokes high school are very personal and provide a solid education instead of just giving out packets like some others do at in different counties. They also do a very well job at communicating with the parents of their students. My favorite thing about the teachers are that they all want you to be successful as well as wanting the best for you. Senior: I have enjoyed being a part of the Alamance-Burlington School System because of the opportunities available. I was able to be a part of advanced classes in elementary and middle school, and was also given the opportunity to apply to different programs for high school. Works Here: I have been a teacher assistant with RCS for 6 years, & I have been at the same school for 5 years. Having the opportunity to work with & watch the same students grow from shy kindergarteners with a whole world of potential, to young citizens going to middle school, is so special to me. Parent: I went to a Rowan-Salisbury School when I was in high school, did not learn much even while making As, and was certainly not prepared for college. I was hesitant for my child to attend a school in this same school district, but am so pleased that things have changed academically. She is in Honors and AP courses and they are tough! She is learning how to think critically in order to navigate difficult subject matter. I certainly believe she will be prepared for whatever challenges she meets after high school.... Senior: I have spend in Lexington City Schools for more than half of my academic life. When I just moved here, I did experience some bad grades. I had bad grades because I just had moved from a state where most of my core classes were taught in Spanish. Then I moved to Lexington where all classes are taught in English. Because of that, I was given extra help through ESL classes. After two years, I was back on track with my grades and went back on being a straight A student. In seventh grade I was put in the AIG program because of my successful grades.
