Junior: The troy school district has given my and my family a place to thrive. Troy has a equitable and supportive curriculum foundation and supports students with all interests and abilities. Troy Schools are made of teachers who are loving and caring for all their students, and put in all their effort, in order to personalize for each and every student. Furthermore, Troy Schools has been very supportive in listening to all students' and parents' opinions. I have been very vocal at school board meetings, whether it be in favor of changes or against policy platforms and ideologies. Troy Schools have always acknowledged my opinion, though I may not agree with all the decisions, and have worked hard to support all their students. The new curriculum change, adding IM curriculum was not popular amongst honors students like myself. I was very vocal and attended all the school board meetings. Senior: Great district with a lot of great teachers and staff! I have loved being a part of the high school at Northville. I have found so many great students in my classes, the teachers are all very flexible and willing to help, and the administrators are very kind and always welcome everyone with a big smile. With going virtual in 2020, the whole school has really stepped up and provided many accommodations for students, as well as many resources for mental health, college preparation, and overall course rigor assistance. Junior: At Bloomfield Hills High School, I really enjoyed my experience. The teachers were very accommodating and helpful for the most part. Many of my teachers would spend hours on their lesson plans and they would still be willing to answer all questions thrown at them, even if they deviated from the main point of class. Additionally, there was a strong sense of community in this school and both students and staff members were willing to come together to overcome various challenges faced within the community. Junior: I cannot fully describe how amazing my experience has been in saline, especially during my Highschool years. Since day one, 13 years ago when the high majority of our student body started, and for those who came along later, it has been amazing to learn, smile, and grow up with everyone here. Also, our teachers. I have never met so many amazing staff members in one building. The updated training they have been receiving in the last 2 year gives an overwhelming sense of appreciation to know that students are not left unheard. Although our schools will carry our bad reputation for years, our students have given their all, fighting the stereotypes left on us by former students who have been long gone. We have seen great improvement in, both curriculum and socially, what it means to go to Saline, and great strides in other definitions of diversity as well, like gender, lgbtqia+, and inclusivity. Alum: The staff at Clarenceville are very nice and dedicated. They very willing to help and be supportive. It is a small school with a big heart. The parents in the community are very much involved. I do wish for the facility to be improved a bit and more passing time between classes. Im provement can be made with the drinking fountains, most of them don not worl anymore. I want lunch at school to be improved since Michelle Obama is no longer the First Lady; we do not have to eat microwaved food because it is easier to keep the calories in check anymore. Senior: I love the RCS community! I have moved to 6 different school districts throughout my childhood and this is by far the best. The teachers, students, and most importantly the administrators at Rochester Adams High School are like no other. Everything from academics to athletics are outstanding, and I feel so safe in this environment. All 3 RCS high schools hold a strong sense of community. There are so many clubs, activities, and extracurriculars that you are sure to find something you like. The staff makes every child feel at home. Alum: Brighton area schools are nice because they are clean, well funded, and safe. However, the downsides of this is that theres some snobs in the school who are very entitled. Not very LGBTQ+ friendly, and it is extremely in-diverse. About 99% of the student population is white. So because of this I believe there is a lot of ethnocentrism, and entitlement, unless the parents parented well. The teaching staff however is very good and really no complaints there. Never had any teacher or staff make me feel uncomfortable or unsafe in anyway. I am an artist and the highschool had an amazing art program. The theater program was great as well, and Brighton area schools do have great athletic teams. I was on the womens lacrosse team and went to D1 state finals three times. Senior: Chippewa Valley High School is a public school in Clinton twp. Michigan. Overall, the school is most widely known for football as we won the state championships in 2018. However, Chippewa has offered me opportunities to join fun and unique clubs as well as get involved. Senior: What I really like about the Walled Lake Consolidated School Districted located in Walled Lake, Michigan is the community that is always involved. Mental health is extremely important in Clarkston from k-12, the school provides as many resources and outlets for students as possible. One unique thing about Clarkston is that it has 3 secondary schools, Sashabaw Middle School, Clarkston Junior High School, and Clarkston High School. This is broken down into an 6th-7th grade building, 8th-9th and 10-12th. Two buildings have been built or renovated in the past 25 years, and another is being renovated within 5 years. Clarkston has amazing athletics and opportunities to play in college, winning state championships every year across different sports. Senior: Overall, Utica Community Schools (UCS) is a fairly good district. They provide a wide selection of classes suited for a variety of interests. In addition, they have a half day programs that focus on math, science, robotics, engineering and creativity. I attend the Center for Science and Industry Program (CSI) that UCS offers, and I am beyond grateful that it exists. The CSI program has both taught and developed a multitude of useful skills that I can take with me into the workforce. Although UCS has good classes and programs, I wish they placed a higher value on the music program. Bands and music programs in the district have continually been shrinking. Furthermore, UCS removed orchestra a while back, which is a program that many other districts both have and cherish. As a musician, I understand that music is vital to many and a way to express oneself freely. The possibility of losing that program is a concern that I, as well as many others, have had with UCS....
