Junior: Cheyenne Mountain High School has amazing academics and extracurricular activity participation, but falls short in the care for student mental health and qualifications of teachers. Students constantly succeeded in and after Cheyenne Mountain with a 97% graduation rate and AP class participation that heavily outweighs that of average classes. Almost every student who Cheyenne produces participates in some sort of extracurricular whether it be sports, clubs, or student government. Along with academic excellence, the sports domination is easily reflected by over 100 state championships in the schools history. Although these statistics easily prove the school wide excellence, the pressure this puts onto many students is not well handled. Many students struggle greatly with mental health, heavily related to school pressures, and cannot rely on any school resources. Senior: If you are self-motivated and self-sufficient, this is the school district for you. Other people will not care about or try to help you - teachers, faculty, or other students. You are on your own to figure everything out, no one will attempt to help you unless it is their job (and even then it will be short and to the point, with no follow-ups). But the classes and clubs offered are diverse and some are very interesting, as long as you get a teacher that is involved in their classroom (which does take some research about the teacher themself - again, most do not care). And! If you do do well in school, you can easily stand out. Most people have around B's and C's, with an A thrown in here and there. Sophomore: I had just moved to Colorado this past year and being the new kid in a new state was intimidating but as soon as I had spent a couple days at LP, I immediately felt integrated and involved in the community. The staff is so genuine, especially within their welcoming and were very helpful resources when fixing all the technical things regarding transferring schools. Although the teachers do a wonderful job introducing you to the school, the students are truly the ones who have made a significant impact on me. I have never met such a more welcoming group of students that are genuinely happy to be in a place of education. On the first day, I was greeted by numerous teens asking if I needed somewhere to sit for lunch. Without hesitance people greet you in the hallways through passing period and flash a smile throughout class. Senior: Manitou is a small town with a small school. My graduating class only has around a hundred students in it. Manitou has done its best, though, to provide an adequate education for every student. They have high-level classes for the kids years ahead of their peers and classes for those a few ears behind. Junior: They have great stem opportunities. I've been able to be apart of their PLTW program as well as the robotics and drone team at my high school. I love the program and I love the learning opportunities that come with being apart of the program. I haven't ever really used the school's resources before, the closest I've gotten is the course catalog. I've never had a good experience with school lunch so I haven't bothered to try the schools lunch some of it looks good and some of it looks rather questionable but what can you expect?; its not a restaurant. They offer some pretty good AP classes, extremely discounted when compared to colleges, for a fee of $20. And every year they pay for every student to take the PSAT if you are a freshman/sophomore, and the SAT if you are a junior; and I think that if you don't tell them you can't take a test and they pay for it and you miss it they will have you pay for the test. Parent: As an immigrants it has been a pleasure and privileged to live new life and experiences here in USA. Being busy working parents we have entrusted our child at Coperni 3 as her 2nd home since 3rd grade. At first we were anxious and thrilled how my daughter will adapt the new challenges and curriculum in school, how will she adapt to the new environment and be with new people of different cultures. She has not feel alienated to her new world. The school welcomed her with so much enthusiasm. She never had any problems interacting in school. She learned and progressed a lot in any subjects. Now that she is on 7th grade and we are thankful enough to the entire faculty of school that my daughter has become. Coperni 3 focus so much on meeting up the standards for students knowledge. Thank you for keeping her safe and for all the teachings you have given her to be an excellent student. Senior: I liked the variety of classes, and the way that students are allowed to express theirselves at this school. There is also a lot of teachers that help us, students, succeed whether inside or outside of school. The teachers also are very understanding with students. They often place theirselves in our shoes and help us as much as they can if there is anything we might need help with. Junior: I have been attending Peyton school since I was in pre-school. The staff has always tried their hardest to help and support their students. They provide for students needs without any question. Peyton also has many activities that help create the culture of our town and school. Parent: My children have had a wonderful experience in Widefield School District. I love the arts integration at Widefield Elementary. Students are able to participate in band and/or orchestra starting in 4th grade. Also, the staff is phenomenal! Every year they put on an all-school musical. At Sproul Middle School the teachers and staff are amazing. Many opportunities exist for students to participate in sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities. Senior: Woodland Park is like any other school. It is what you make of it. They have a lot of activities and chances for kids to get involved with what they are most interested in. They give you all the tools to do things that you want and it is just a matter of fact of getting involved and making sure that you are doing things that you want to so. Most of the teachers are very willing to help you with your classes and they don't want to see you fail. If you are failing it is most likely because you aren't getting the help you need to pass those classes. Woodland Park School District is changing things to be for the students. This meaning they are making it more about what we want and how to make sure that we are the most successful in high school leading up to college that we can be. Junior: Ellicott is a small community where everyone knows basically everyone else. In Highschool you will have each teacher at least once, in the four years you are here. This allows you to create vital bonds with your classmates, as well as as your teachers. The only down side of this school is the lack of opportunities we have for gaining traction after Highschool. Of course there are AP classes and beauty school and trades, however unless you are extremely intelligent, good at weilding, sports or art or willing to miss most of your school day there are not much opportunities for the average person.... Senior: I am a graduating senior at a D49 IConnect zone school, GOAL Academy. I have been a student in D49 for eight years, since elementary school. Looking back now, I am overall satisfied with my school district experience. The teachers have always been kind and supportive of my educational journey. The district allows students to participate in Dual-Enrollment to earn college credit while in school, which I took full advantage of. I have completed two years of my undergraduate degree while graduating as a senior. As a senior, I had the opportunity to serve on the Student Board of Representatives at board meetings and private meetings.
