Senior: In my six years within Forsyth County Schools, I've had lots of ups and downs. Lots of teachers have supported me through a lot of tough decisions and everyday struggles. I have built my own little family within Forsyth country these past years but this doesn't come at a cost to some teachers who just didn't seem to care about their students or even other staff members. I have had a few teachers who are miserable with themselves and the life they live and they take it out on their students as a form of punishment. Whenever I had a teacher like this it made me not want to come to school anymore or even at times hide in another teacher's classroom simply to avoid that teacher. Alum: The Bremen community is a very close knit community. It is a very small town, and as a result, there is very much community involvement from everyone whether that be parents, students, or extended family. I would say it is a great school for any Christians looking for likeminded people, however, it could definitely use some diversity. I believe more inclusivity for the LGBTQ+ community as well as minorities would be helpful. The teachers at this school are wonderful and very qualified. Senior: Kindergarten to Senior year was rough, but worth it. Overall the district is pretty good at preparing students for their future. The elementary schools use the IB curriculum and the middle school uses the IB middle years programme to try to diversify students and to prepare them for the possible IB diploma programme at DHS. CSD administration is annoying and makes useless rules that even faculty dislike. The middle school staff is not very good as it seems like they don't really care about their students. The district is good in requiring a world language (spanish) through almost the entire time. I began learning spanish in kindergarten and I am now a senior, and I speak enough to get around in a Spanish speaking country on my own. The teachers are really good, and some of them even have their Ph.D. I have been with some of the same classmate for the past twelve years, and some people may like that, and some people may not.... Parent: We moved to Fayetteville, Georgia from California in March of 2021. We chose our new home, based on the wonderful things we had learned about the schools while researching different areas in Georgia. Everything I had read about the Fayette County schools is true! We were greeted last spring by the kindest staff at Braelinn Elementary School. We instantly felt welcomed by the administration, office staff, and teachers. They anticipated our needs and questions and went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home. This year we have become part of the family at Rising Starr Middle School in Fayette County. They welcomed parents and students by hosting a very informative question and answer meeting as well as a tour of the campus. We felt informed and ready to start the new year! The campus is so clean and the staff has implemented protocols to ensure the staff and students’ safety during the COVID pandemic. Junior: I am a junior at Carrollton high school and have been in the school system since pre-k. All of my years in the system have been great. The teachers mostly seem to be involved in the education of their students, with a willingness to help. The school is very diverse, and I feel as though all the students are respected in the level that they deserve. The campus is very open, and has a very high level of comfort and safety as we as students navigate the campus throughout the day. The administration has rules in place that I feel like apply in all circumstances to help make the system maintain a great environment for the students. The teachers are great! As a student, I can see their dedication to their job and their excitement while teaching in their own convenient and beneficial way. Alum: I arrived at Sprayberry High School as a freshman, an immigrant young lady. It was relieving to see that the environment was so diverse in ethnic and religious populations, growing up throughout high school in this environment was very enlightening for me as a person! I was also capable of understanding more discrimination problems because of that environment, unfortunately. Junior: My experience with Cherokee county schools it honestly I’ve never had too bad of an experience. I’ve always had teachers ask me if I need help with something or do their best to try and make sure I don’t fail, but there’s also been teachers that don’t do that extra mile. The one things about Cherokee county is from elementary to highschool, in between those three transitions of different school (elementary, middle, high) you always find that one teacher who will do anything for you and help you out as much as they can in the matter, and I think that is what makes these schools good or tolerable.... Freshman: I’m using this as a generalization because my actual school is not included. I go to Global Impact Academy. It’s a new magnet program STEM school in south Fulton. Needless to say, it’s a really good school! The teachers are very nice (at least mine are; there are a few teachers that aren’t very popular because of their workload or strictness) and will help you whenever you have a problem. GIA offers many opportunities for their students like international trips (Last year, some students went to Panama), job shadowing/internship opportunities, college tours, other field trips, people connections, etc. Of course, you have to do a little probing for some of those opportunities. Senior: The highlight of my time in the Gwinnett County public schools was the culture. No matter what subject or extracurricular you are taking, you meet others who are respectful and welcoming towards you. I appreciate the county's efforts towards a positive atmosphere. Alum: In Coweta County. I went to a school that’s not listed. It’s called the Pentecostal Christian Academy. Where u will inherit Christian Character and fulfill the upbringing of God’s kingdom. The teachers and staff are full of love and education is top tier. There is NO greater school than the Pentecostal Christian Academy. As for lunch time, The food is cooked with love and the chefs (Sonya King and Ellen Miles) make sure no child is hungry. Before we leave school for the day, snacks are given. As for the the first part of the day we start devotion. Where we sing praises and pray to God about our past, present, and future trials and tribulations. This school might not have all we want, but spiritually, it’s the best school I could have ever been to. Senior: I had a wonderful 4 + yrs in Marietta City Schools, my teachers were all amazing and helped me to learn in a way that I could retain information. I made friends that made being a teenager so easy. My teachers were all very encouraging & gave me lifelong lessons to use in the future. Of course, there were some fights at the high school but it wasn't an everyday occurrence, actually at a bare minimum. Sophomore: My school and the county I live in may be small but we are dedicated to our education. With the high attendance records it has made a way for a higher graduation rate. The staff at the schools have all dedicated themselves even in a troubling time such as this with the pandemic in place. The extra curricular activities such as sports have kept everyone including myself busy to better not only our education but our school year and our confidence. Everyone in our community works together to make sure the schools are ran with greatness. It is a safe and strong environment for us students. Senior: My experience within the Paulding County School District was a very positive and supportive from kindergarten to 12th grade. I like the use of the student ID number you were assigned from elementary school through high school. This made transitioning from school to school seamless. Alum: The academics in the school offer different teachers for each class giving you an option of different teaching styles. Each teacher cares about the classes stye teach and offer help after class if needed. As a former student, I tried to be involved in clubs and after school activities. There are many different clubs to be involved in that accommodate different interests. There have been sports teams added to the school recently for students and each team is successful in different ways. The school has an amazing fine arts building for chorus, band, and art with a huge auditorium used for many activities beyond our school functions. A college academy has also been recently built to hold CORE college classes for the students in the high school. Dual enrollment is also an option for juniors or seniors to get a start on their college career. Senior: Gainesville City Schools is overall a good school system. The schools are very diverse and inclusive of the people and the community allowing people to find a new family and friend group no matter the schooling level. The biggest program in the school system is the Band, The Big Red Machines. The band hold a huge part in bringing not only schools together, but the community as well. This varies from football games to the community pep rallies. The connection of the school also goes much deeper than just the extracurriculars, the teachers hold an important part. At Gainesville teachers and faculty are very involved in maintaining the overall happiness and wellbeing of the students throughout the school year. The only negative about the schools is that some students don't play their part in helping maintain the school's cleanliness, and moving forward I would love to see system wide implements to have a cleaner school....
