Senior: Edgemont Junior Senior High School offers a very diverse student body, which is a great characteristic of the school in my opinion. Diversity brings different ideas and creativity, and I find that reflected at Edgemont. The school is also rated a top public high school, known for its academic rigor. The classes students take definitely prepares them well for the next level. There are many electives to choose from during junior and senior years, such as computer science and economics to name a few. This makes for a well-rounded education. Additionally, the school offers many Varsity sports. I personally participated in the track team since my Junior year, and very much enjoyed all the track meets I’ve been to. Sophomore: As a current Sophomore in the Chappaqua Central District I can strongly say that the district is an overall fantastic district that puts a lot of emphasis on challenging each and every student in a way that helps them succeed. Starting from 7th grade, the students are split into two different math tracks to accommodate for those that are more mathematically inclined. In high school, a variety of AP courses also allows students to push themselves to learn higher level material. There are also clubs for the many things students are interested in including art, science and even gaming. A range of courses in the performing arts also allows students to explore new instruments and roles in the production of stage performances. However one thing that is not as fantastic about the district is the underlaying racism towards minorities. Senior: The teachers in this school are amazing and really do care about their students success! I’ve made amazing connections with my teachers and felt understood! The one thing that isn’t good about this school is the inclusitivioty with the general education kids and special education kids. Senior: My Experience overall in Ardsley high school was spectacular , it is a highly regarded institution that provides students with a challenging and well rounded education . While there may be area's for improvement , the school is committed to ongoing growth and improvement to meet the needs of its students like me and the community. The school has a well-resourced technology department and offers a variety of advanced courses , including advanced placement courses and college level courses - level through partnership with local colleges and universities. Senior: Blind Brook is a great school academically that prepares you very well for college. Most students are motivated and push each other to their limits. Teachers are willing to help respectful students who put effort into their class. At times, competitiveness between classmates can be harsh. Some students tear down others and put themselves on an academic pedestal. It would be great if students could be more kind to each other and brag less. Also on a social level, the school is filled with cliques. People are often not very inclusive. I think this is because the grades are so small so everyone knows everything about each student. Changes have been made recently to the lunch room to bring in healthy food and a transition to block scheduling has also taken place. Alum: I had a pretty good experience at BHHS. Although I was one of few people of color, I never felt discriminated against or even really encountered someone who was racist to me. They had great resources, great teachers, a pretty friendly environment, competitive academics, and most importantly fed their students amazing food. One thing I would like to see is an increase in diversity. I know that the school isn't the only factor in this, but the towns apart of the school district being the main reason for such a low diversity rate. Another thing I would like to see change is the that I wish the guidance counselors helped more with the college process, because for me I didn't hire a college advisor like other students, because I though my guidance counselor would help more than he did, but I was kind of left to help myself basically. Senior: My experience at KLSD has been both interesting and boring at once. I think our community is getting much better at noticing and educating on important issues concerning discrimination, race, etc. On the other hand, our district is sort of in a bubble full of white privilege. There is very little diversity and a lack of interest in minorities and America's issues. Finding a good group of kids, one's that won't talk poorly behind your back and have a good sense of ethics, is rare. Senior: The district provides students with a myriad of ways to increase learning, develop better academic skills and challenge their students. Both with academic clubs as well as sports Hen Hud provides a safe environment for all students and is very inclusive, help all students make solid friendships. There are ample opportunities to "give back" to the community and the whole school always seems to rally behind anyone who needs help or is facing hardship. Junior: Bedford Central School District is a great experience. The teachers are very helpful whenever you need help. They always provide helpful tips and advice. The students on the campus are really friendly and there is many great people to hang out with. The campus is big and there is always things to do while it’s to study after and be with friends, or to study, or sports practice. The building is really nice and easy to maneuver. Senior: My overall experience with the Lakeland School District has been amazing! Not only do I have a wide variety of classes to choose from, but I have also had the chance to take part in a variety of extracurricular clubs and sports programs such as the varsity tennis team and the drama club. Additionally, I have been very fortunate to have had excellent teachers throughout the years. One of the changes I would like to see is the middle school be split into two schools, since it is so big. Currently, there are five elementary schools that funnel into the middle school. After middle school, students are then divided into two high schools. This can be difficult for students who have friends not attending the same high school. Overall, I believe the Lakeland Central School District has provided me with a high-quality, well-rounded educational experience that has empowered me with the skills and knowledge I will need to succeed in the future.... Junior: Irvington has been home since the first grade and I couldn't imagine a better place. It has been one of the friendliest places where everyone is willing to talk to anyone. The education has been top notch and the focus on athletics have been highlighted massively. Two things I did not enjoy is the lack of diversity as well as the lack of focus on the music programs. I hope that in the future the school points more importance on the diversity. There was limited teachers of color when I attended the school. Additionally, the focus of music and clubs were lacking. Senior: I love growing up in White Plains because of the amount of diversity that I am surrounded with.
