Senior: Ithaca City School District offers excellent education for everyone that attends. Where I met some of the best friends I've had to this day. Throughout each grade level, from elementary to high school, teachers have always provided a hands-on approach to ensuring each student is successful in their academic endeavors. Although the on site involvement of teachers and administration is above average, there are some issues with the inner workings of the school district. The most prominent issue is the lack of recycling within the district. Though we do have separate binds for recycling and trash, at the end of the day it is all combined into one. As of now the Green Team club at the high school is working to decrease the impact of this issue. In the future, I hope the extreme importance of recycling is recognized and action is taken to save our environment, in changing our recycling policies.... Read 24 reviews

Alum: Trumansburg central school district is a great place to enroll your children. This school district has some of the top academic scores in the state. There are many diverse opportunities to involve your children in outside of the school district. They have top level teachers from the area. Parent: St. John's is providing an excellent academic and social environment for our children in middle school. They were not being challenged as much as they needed in our local public school, so we switched from MCPS, and couldn't be happier. They are not only challenged academically at St. John's, but they are also encouraged to think on a deeper level about their faith, which is important to our family. Opportunities abound for involvement in leadership activities, the arts and athletics. The small school setting allows all the children to get to know each other, no matter what grade they're in, so it feels more like a big family. We love that STJES is also teaching them life skills such as talking to their teachers/adults, public speaking, respecting one another, as well as advocating for themselves. Additionally, there is an emphasis on community service within and outside of the school throughout the year. It's been a great experience, and we're very thankful to have found St. John's!... Senior: As with anything, there are pros and cons, but overall my experience at Dryden Central School has been positive. The small classes lend to very close relationships where you know everyone in your graduating class. The AP and concurrent classes have helped me to enter college with many credits. I am very appreciative to have those opportunities. There does seem to be some issue though with principals and other staff leaving the Dryden school district much more frequently than other schools. I'm not sure why and have stayed away from the negative aspects, but I do hope that it settles down and some stability can be found for the future classes.... Read 24 reviews

Senior: I am a senior at Newfield Highschool and while I have attended most of the middle and Highschool I can personally say the teachers and staff are amazing.The classes that are offered most different fit diverse educational plans and many courses are offered to prepare students for college level courses and can even help you graduate with your associates degree. During my freshman year i was involved in many clubs with I am still involved in! Student council and many other clubs offer fun activities for students to express themselves and show school spirit. The community is very well brought together. The community is not very diverse and the administration is constantly changing but they do their best to not let that effect student education.... Junior: Groton Central School, is currently in a transitional period for the betterment of education. While in past years, the school was on a target list for poor grades, the school has since dug itself off that list and is on the up. Recently remodeling and adding a STEM lab the school is doing lots to improve small town education. There are plenty of athletic opportunities and clubs to join. The only con is that currently as I said they are going through a transition, and one of the growing pains is constant changes in staff. Works Here: As someone who has worked here for many years and has witnessed the transition to a new head of school, I grateful to be part of this school. Field has stayed true to its mission of knowing every student and has stayed committed to its core values through the years. We have shifted to more Project Based Learning which has enhanced, even more so than before, the skills of collaboration, problem-solving and critical thinking. With support from teachers, coaches and advisors, students continue to grow in their academic independence and as self-advocates. Senior: When I was younger, school was a source of confidence. I felt like I was good at it and could end the day feeling accomplished. As I got older, that changed. School became frustrating. It began to make me feel badly about myself. This was so discouraging and degrading. I started not wanting to go to school, not wanting to even try. My sophomore year I knew things had to change if I wanted to have a good future and go to a good college. We found Cortona Academy and, honestly, my life changed! Cortona Academy made me feel good about learning again and helped build-up my confidence. They made school less frustrating, making sure I understood something before moving on, making certain I had a strong foundation and could successfully tackle any subject put in my path.
