Senior: My experience at Somerset High School was interesting. The school doesn't show much appreciation for the arts/ music, but they love sports. The school goes crazy for games but not for performances. The teachers are a hit or miss. Sometimes they are good but other times their not. The high school only has 1 language you can learn. There was ASL but they got rid of the teacher because of budget cuts. The students are regular kids some of them are interesting, like they think it's funny to be rude to everyone.... Alum: Saint Croix Central (SCC) is a fantastic school district. There is something for everyone here, whether you are in sports, drama, or the arts. Senior: I would say my overall experience is pretty average. Nothing is too crazy at our school and I can't say I have really experienced any problems. The best parts of my experience I would say are the clubs and activities I 've been involved in because they have allowed me to meet new people and connect more with the staff. The thing I would most want to see change is maybe just the way our school approaches discipline. I know that sounds typical coming from a student but personally from my perspective I feel as if the more restrictive staff are with students, the more they are going to want to rebel. Along with this I think there should be a greater amount of guidance when it comes to students choosing their classes, even when they are just coming into the school, because I think it is sometimes hard for students to fully know what they are signing up for and what classes may be better suited for them.... Senior: I love Baldwin-Woodville area school district because it is like a family. Baldwin is a small town but we still get many opportunities. I am able to be involved in sports, AP classes, and other extracurricular activities because of this school. This town has low crime rates so it helps me feel safe and comfortable. I am able to stay comfortable because we always have police at the school or nearby. The teachers care about the students future and want what is best for them. Alum: The best part about growing up in a small school district is all the opportunities that are provided. Rather than having to pick one sport, or one extracurricular, I was able to experience a little bit of everything. I was a football and basketball player, I threw shot and disc in track, I was in the all-school musicals, I was in honors band and choir, I was in the vocal Jazz group, and I was president of the national honor Society. It was able to build solid relationships with my teachers, because my class sizes were very small. There are two drawbacks to being part of a small school district. The variety of classes that are offered is very limited, and I had to take some electives online. The population is mainly white, and there are many families that live just above the poverty line. This results in lack of diversity and open mindedness with regards to LGBTQ, different cultures and races. Being very open-minded and left wing, I felt like I was on an island most of the time....
