Senior: I loved that everyone in Anacortes High School was so supportive of everyone's differences. We all have one goal. Do our best before we move on. Anacortes is a very college-bound school. I couldn't be more thankful for the teachers and administration running it all. Everything we do and learn during our four years at Anacortes High School is targeted towards a good education. They make sure we're receiving all the credits and classes we need to get into any college our heart's desire. The teachers are always there for the students in times of need whether it's classwork, a question about college applications, or for someone to talk to when they're feeling down. Freshman: When I enrolled in Mount Vernon High School, it was my first year in the United States. I didn't know the language or anyone there. The only person I knew was my dad so I remember coming to classes without knowing what it was about and when people tried to communicate with me I didn't know how to respond. Mount Vernon High School and it's staff helped me feel comfortable and secure about myself. They provided me support courses for my English and teachers and students were very supportive. Senior: The thing about school, in general, is that we as students can make a huge impact on the way we think school is and the feeling of the school. If you want the school to suck then the school will suck but if you go in with the attitude of wanting to learn something new or just being excited about school, you will in return get that kind of atmosphere. Personally, the La Conner district is such a family feel. Although there are some flaws about having a small school, I believe that the positive effects are much greater. Most of the teachers are really happy to be there and they radiate good vibes. The class sizes are small and honestly, most of them are a blast. The teachers invest in their students and make an effort to get to know each student and their needs. My career goal is to become a teacher and if I could pick any district to work in out of all of the Washington state districts, I would pick La Conner. Senior: I like the overall atmosphere of the school. There is a lot of different types of clubs and academic activities. The food at school is average and the hallways are always clean. The campus if a fun one, everyone loves to make friends and the campus is spread out so you can enjoy the amazing court yard. All of our teachers will help and the classrooms are always energetic.... Alum: After graduating in 2017 from Concrete High school, I walked away with not only my diploma but all of the useful things that Concrete provided me. Although Concrete is a smaller populated school, it made the class sizes a little smaller which gave more opportunity for one-on-one time with teachers and students. In the high school there were only about 100 students, we all were close and everyone knew each other. The teachers were patient, caring, and knew all the students very well which helped them push and assist students with what they needed. Concrete High provided an after school class to assist kids with any homework they needed. They set up an after school snack grab where any student could grab a quick something before the bus or after school activities and they set up after school activities such as art classes, homework help, outdoor activities, band, etc. The curriculum was always up-to-date as well.
