Alum: I spent most of my 13 years of schooling in this district and it was okay but definitely could have been better. I’m autistic so I was in Special Ed for most of my time there and the Special Ed teachers and aids were not properly equipped for dealing with my classmates or I. In elementary school they would lock us in a padded room when we “misbehaved” and it was honestly traumatizing. Luckily, middle school and high school were much better but I still think that the staff should be required to learn more about disabilities and put themselves in our shoes before they step foot in a Special Ed classroom.... Sophomore: Like every small town school, the kids are tight knit. Everyone knows everyone. If you want a sense of community, this is the right district. Moving to this district will allow for you to grow with all of the extracurricular activities and all of the different classes. There are sports such as soccer, tennis, bowling, volleyball, football, etc... And clubs such as Theater (which is now a class too), gardening, Best buddies, key club, debate, etc... Senior: At Maple Hill, it is nearly impossible to walk through the hallways and see someone you don't know. This is great in the fact that students are very supportive of each other and know everyone on a personal level. Bullying is extremely rare, and finding close friends to support you is not difficult. Maple Hill has an amazing athletic program and our camaraderie is shown on full display. The coaches know you on a personal level and take the sport, and your success, very seriously. In academics, students work extremely hard to make sure their peers understand the material. This environment is great for teamwork, but it creates a lack of competition in academics that I'm sure many of us will be surprised by in college. Some teachers are better than others, but all teachers at Maple Hill know their students very well. I would like to see more situations where students can challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zones, both in extracurriculars and academics.... Read 1 review

Senior: Lansingburgh has offered me multiple opportunities while learning in a diverse community. The faculty and staff are committed to the success of every students, especially to those that may not have the support at home. Whenever I felt challenged or as if I was struggling with a lesson plan or topic, the teachers at Lansingburgh have always been attentive. They often stay afterschool for extra help and encourage parent involvement in the learning process as well. Lansingburgh also offers many extracurricular activities, such as sports teams, music and various clubs. Alum: I was very happy with the education I received here. All of the teachers were happy to help with whatever I needed to get through school. Personally I believe that the music programs and opportunities that it provided. I also enjoyed smaller size of the school. There was a wonderful sense of community the entire time I was there. Senior: Things I like about my school, Hoosick Falls Central School is the people and staff that work here. I have many favorite teachers here that have all set me up for the next 4 years in my life. I'm very excited to go to college and I feel very comfy making the transition to college from the help of all my teachers. The staff are all very nice and the kids around me are very nice and welcoming. There's many clubs created here by the kids which gives more opportunities for colleges to look at. The school and the kids within it all do a good job for preparing kids for the next steps in life. Senior: Berlin Central School is a small school and it has given many opportunities due to its small size that I may not have received by attending a large school where I was one of several hundred graduating.
