Senior: Aurora High School was welcoming since my first day of going there! Having moved there my freshmen year of high school, I expected it to be difficult. I quickly realized there were many people to help me. I felt included and as if I had people there for me. Touring other schools just did not feel the same to me as Aurora did. Senior: Growing up through the Kent City Schools District has been an overall fun experience. I was fortunate enough to attend schools throughout my youth that actually cared about its kids, helping them through their education and making sure they're taken care of. The staff at all of the schools are great and looking back as a senior currently, I feel grateful for how much they cared about our lives and most importantly our education. There is, however, one thing that could be handled differently here, which is the parking lot situation in the winter. It would benefit the students and teachers greatly, especially at the high school, if the parking lots were plowed or at least salted on mornings where there is too much snow or too icy to the point where people can't park appropriately due to not being able to see the space lines.... Senior: Now as a senior at Streetsboro High, I can tell you I was able to get one of the most comprehensive educations that I can imagine possible. Maybe we do not have reputations as a district like Hudson or Aurora, but what we do have is a culture of success and diversity. In every step of my 4 year career (2015-2019),I feel the faculty and administration have helped the student body fulfill their desires of making Streetsboro a destination school district. And in my personal experience I can tell you every staff member I ever encountered legitimately cared about my success in the classroom, and my life outside of it. With tremendous programs like THRIVE, TV Production, and our very own radio station, this district has everything a student should be looking for. Senior: The staff is very helpful and there are plenty of resources if students or parents need it. We are a small, tight community which helps. There are many extracurriculars and art programs. Each program gets its time to shine in local performances, games, or craft shows. We have a resource officer in the High and Middle school, and she often patrols the parking lot of the whole campus (Pre-K - 12) However, there is a bullying problem. The administration has anti-bullying assemblies and preaches about not being a bystander. But when you do report bullying, either nothing gets done or the wrong person gets punished. There is also a racism problem. Because we live in a small white country town, many people are bigoted. As well as the previous issue, the administration does nothing to solve this. There has been many reports but no answer. If you can look past these clear issues, our school really is excellent. We excel in testing scores and there are many opportunities for kids.... Alum: My experience at Mogadore local school district is very helpful but not very ready for college. I felt that i lacked the knowledge to succeed in college my very first year. I feel that the teachers are very helpful, but the food was not good. The cafeteria needed to come up with some healthy menu items but know how to cook them. Junior: The school is pretty small which gives the teachers an easier chance to get close with students. The teachers are very caring to their students and the school is an overall great place to be at. For the income that the school receives, administration offers many options of courses including CCP classes which earn the students dual credit between high school and college. The schools are kept clean especially during the pandemic and COVID restrictions are applied to daily learning and they are enforced. The high school and middle school extracurriculars also show the elementary school their talent and give the young students different experiences to look forward to. Alum: The things I liked about Rootstown School District are that we were such a small school that if something happened, we all came together as not only a community, but a family. The staff at Rootstown was very understanding and very helpful when one of our very loved classmates passed away. The school was WONDERFUL. They brought in grief counselors, they made a memorial rock for the memorial garden, they do memorial games in her remembrance, but most importantly, they didn't let her get forgotten. They still have her memories around the school and that was the best thing for us students to cope with, was seeing a little bit of her everywhere we went.... Read 10 reviews
