Senior: I think that Holmdel High School is one of the best high schools I could attend. Not only is it a positive environment where I can learn and grow, but they have so many helpful and interesting classes. Specifically, they offer many medical-related classes in conjunction with Rutgers, which allows pre-med students to get an idea of the medical field and also have the opportunity to get a final transcript grade in college for the classes. Senior: We live in a beautiful community where we’re lucky enough to be surrounded by adults who genuinely care about our success and wellbeing. It’s very important to live somewhere kept clean and safe for children and I believe that Manasquan School District prides themselves on doing exactly that. Being a town by the beach, it can be hard to remember that our lives don’t revolve around summer! The teachers here keep students on track and continuing along with their studies so that they can eventually enjoy the nice hot summer off! Administration can always be seen with a smiling face either greeting you in the morning, walking through the halls, or calling you down to help with something! Senior: I have had nothing but love for WHS the whole time I have gone there. We have struggled with several things as a community but none the less we went through it together. We have tons of clubs and extra curricular activities! We are a sports based school meaning that a lot of what we do surrounds our teams, mainly football, lacrosse and baseball. Senior: Matawan has provided a nurturing outlet for me to grow as both an academic and human. Accademically, I was challenged with Advanced Placement courses as well as "college-like teachers." Due to these attributes, I now feel ready to excel in college due to the skill set I have adapted from Matawan. In addition, I was able to grow as a person, because of the chances I was given to find/establish a community. WIth a variety of clubs and activities to join, I was able to do what I loved outside of school (ex: volunteering, art, academics) as well as meet others who felt the same. Senior: Overall experience was good. I wish they offered more college ready resources. I feel as if most of the experiences given were not helpful in preparing me for college or preparing me on how to pay for college. The best of my experience is that I did form great relationships with the faculty and staff and I feel like they were all supportive with my educational experiences and helping me to succeed. The worst part was the course offerings. Again, I feel like the courses offered were not college ready courses. If I could change one thing I would like to see more workshops to help students like myself with filling out college applications. I would also like to see resources for financial aid.... Sophomore: The Keansburg School District is just about an average rated school if not a little more. The school has great technology for example chrome books and mac books for the students to use. As well as computers in school to use for research and school work. The staff and teacher in the schools are always trying to help the students out. We also are working on the rights for lgbtq students, with that clubs and after school activities like sports are always offered to students that meet requirement. But where the school falls short is funding, my reasoning to this is the school will give certain sports team hire funds by what they find more valuable. Also the art and music classes at the school are struggling as we don't have the resources to get the materials needed. But that has stop to students from creating good work. Sophomore: The Monmouth County Academy of Allied Health and Sciences has given me (so far) a great education, exposure to different ethnic groups, and experience in the health field. Overall, it is a wonderful school. However, some of the staff are too hard on the kids and hold the idea of writing college recommendations over the student body. Student and parent involvement is tremendous. The only reason I do not feel safe sometimes is because of an incident that happened just a year ago, but since the situation has been dealt with effectively. Parent: These schools operate as Public Schools however, the culture rivals that of any Private School and if I could give this district a score of ten I would. The town is full of mansions whose occupants send their children to the private schools, yet they still pay school taxes. So the schools are well funded and the Middle School offers a wealth of after school activities with a late bus to boot so that every child has the opportunity to participate. Teachers in the all three schools are seasoned and most are excellent. They encourage the children to be charitable and many of the teachers volunteer their free time for afterschool activities and clubs. Sophomore: I attend Marlboro Highschool. It’s a good school, with good people. The teachers are for the most part good, but the curriculum, speed at which teachers teach, and amount of homework could be improved. Lots of teachers have not much sympathy for the children taking their courses, and this severely brings down the desire to learn and succeed. In addition, the school does not have pep rallies or fun, school-environment building things. However, I have enjoyed my time there thus far because other teachers are great. Senior: My sister and I attended Howell High School in New Jersey. All of our teachers were great; helpful, educated and caring. No complaints at all! The Principal was always available to meet with you, even though he is always busy The Principal is open to hearing about doing new things for the school, approachable and can always be found somewhere in the school everyday. My sister (who graduated) and I, have the same Guidance Counselor who is very helpful in navigating the College process and also is always available to meet with you. He does a great job in trying his best to accommodate your schedule so you're happy and taking the correct classes to graduate on time. Howell High School is a great community of people. Our eldest graduated last year from Manalapan High School. They all did very well and had a wonderful learning experience!
