Senior: South Brunswick HS offers so many different ways to get involved, which is how I made most of my friends. They offer so many clubs and sports teams to join. It can be a very competitive atmosphere at times, but joining these clubs and teams helped me find a group of people that I did not need to compare myself to. Besides, the competition just makes you better. There is a high standard for students but it is achievable with the help offered from teachers and other students. I enjoyed my time here!... Sophomore: It is competitive and well-balanced. All staff and encouraging and supportive. Although many students are a big distraction to the school environment, this school can stay on top of its education along with its extracurricular. I had a great experience with Edison Township School District! The staff was always helpful and supportive of me and my academic goals. The teachers were knowledgeable and made the learning experience engaging and interactive. I also felt safe and secure while on campus. Junior: East Brunswick is a great place to live and the schools are amazing! All of the public schools in East Brunswick are Blue Ribbon rated and have amazing facilities. The middle school has the second biggest auditorium in New Jersey. We also have amazing programs which cater to all different types of students such as music, sports, academics, practical arts, and etc. East Brunswick prides itself on its supportive and wonderful staff. Senior: The teachers are reputable, and well respected. While experience definitely varies student to student, I have enjoyed every year. All the teachers are looking to help you succeed, and will spend time with you before and/or after school to help you in whatever you are struggling with. Many of the teachers are also club advisors/coaches, so it really is a tight-knit community. Especially strong in the math and language arts section, Metuchen High School is the place to go. Plus, there is an upcoming referendum in which the school will be renovated expanded to host a larger number of students! Athletic-wise, we have a strong sports department and the track and fields and good as well. They will also be redone in the upcoming renovation! The downsides revolve around location and traffic. It's vital to leave your home early to get to school, otherwise you will be 15-30 minutes late once caught in traffic. Alum: Old Bridge Township is a great town. The schools are great, and the high school does a fantastic job representing all types of careers and exposing students to many different career paths. For example, I took a Business Pre-Law class in my sophomore year and now I am confident in the fact that I would like to go into law as a career. The only con I have is that they are constantly running out of money. For example, every year the school district has to let go of beloved teachers because there is not enough money to keep them or to tenure them. Senior: After taking on AP classes during my junior and senior classes, I realized how these classes are not as difficult they sound. Most of these classes like AP Spanish and AP Lit are focused on your time commitment and dedication. If you believe that you cannot handle these classes, then stay in the honors classes because once you start failing, it will be difficult for you to get back on your feet. Senior: Being part of the Monroe Township school district for a relatively important part of my life, I've seen key differences within our school compared to other communities. Being from India, I enjoyed seeing so much representation of my culture within my school, from the music they played at school dances to the people they recognized. I enjoy the environment of our school, however, I also believe it is essential to highlight the smaller groups within our school, instead of catering to just the major demographic of our school. With this, I hope to see with our future generations that overall support of peers and teachers increases, as the continuous battle for teacher wages plagues the nation. There are several levels of available courses for those interested in pursuing more challenging classes and those who need extra help. Most teachers are very motivations and provide support, although some fail to go the extra mile to encourage every single student. There are many after school activities that allow for students to get an all-around dynamic high school experience such as plays, volunteer opportunities, athletics, and clubs. Junior: When I moved to North Brunswick in 2011, I was immediately welcomed by the teachers and staff at my new elementary school and felt comforted by my classmates on my first day. While everyone seemed to know each other from preschool, they still made sure to include me. Throughout elementary school, I had teachers who were always willing to make sure I did my best and pushed me to succeed. I had one teacher in particular who encouraged me to read every day, and that has helped me maintain healthy reading habits in high school as well. In high school, I was surprised to see how our school had so many facilities and new technology and I felt very grateful to be a part of such an advanced community. Senior: Proudly, I can say I'm graduating from one of the Carteret district schools. Carteret High school, a small but great school has teach me a lot. I came to this country without even knowing English and deciding that I was going to attend one of the Carteret schools was the best decision I ever did. I had hard times because of not knowing English but of all of the staff members helped me to get through it. Senior: Overall New Brunswick High Schools, are the best but they aren't the worst in comparison to other high school near by, the academics are the worst, but there can still be improvement in certain areas. As for safety, I consider my school to be very safe, but in comparison to the public high school, which gotten broken into last week, resulting in several student injuries. Furthermore, something New Brunswick public high schools arent lacking is diversity, town has the most diversity I have ever seen, from a town. as for the athletics, New Brunswick is a major soccer town, I believe they even made it to finals this year, as for other sports, the Girls Varsity Tennis team made it to the top three, with the captain winning several awards.... Senior: I have been an theatre student there for all 4 years of High School. The school itself is a greater improvement than my original district school. The artists there are out of this world and the experience overall was pretty good. It’s a very accepting diverse community (definitely among the arts students) and the academic education is also good, the teachers are understanding toward shop priorities. Some academic teachers are better than others, similar to any school. The district’s administration I feel could be better suited and more understanding to what the art educators have to say given that it’s the “school of the arts”. The local administration is trying to understand the tasks behind the art shops, lagging a bit, but never the less trying. As a gay, it’s definitely better than district. (especially around art students). If you’re thinking about leaving your district to try out Vo-Tech, I’d say go for it! It’s easy to make friends here and a good experience!... Read 10 reviews
