Senior: Here at Serena I loved the warm welcome that was offered when you stepped foot into those doors upon entering the school. Many people are very nice and teachers have a great deal of involvement with their students, but it helps the teachers with their classes being fairly small and seating an average 20 students. Sporting events are taken very seriously here and it’s very competitive despite not being a very large school. The staff and parents are very involved with the children and extracurricular activities which makes life easier for the students and helps them strive for a better future. I believe things that could be changed in Serena is the diversity of the school and how they handle offensive behavior among students. Overall the school itself is a great environment for kids wanting to be strive and succeed for a better future. They will have the opportunity to be involved with the school and have a great staff that will help them create a better future for themselves.... Read 9 reviews

Senior: I have been a student at Leland Community Unit School District #1 since my kindergarten year. During my schooling, I have been provided instruction by many different teachers who offer varying methods. Leland School has become part of the Leader In Me concept. All teachers and staff work hard to incorporate this philosophy in school lessons, assemblies, and club offerings. The morale of the school has shifted since making this change, and more students are becoming more involved in activities and supporting programs. This school is a K-12 building that resides in a small community. Everyone works together in this tight-knit community and the retention rate of Leland teachers is very high. My goal is to utilize the teaching styles of my educators and incorporate them into my own instruction once I complete my undergraduate program.... Read 2 reviews

Senior: I like that it is a small school district and the classes were not too crowded. I got to have my friends in most of my classes in grade school and through high school. The schools are not very diverse due to our country location and sense some of the teachers are not very accepting of other races due to this. Senior: I like the Streator Elementary School District for many reasons. All of the faculty and staff are very considerate towards the students, and put lots of effort into their jobs. One thing I wish could change about District No. 44 is the food. Some days the food is okay, others not so much. One last thing I think might need to see a change is the amount of bullying that goes on in these schools. When kids cry for help, sometimes they aren't being heard.... Read 1 review
