Senior: I think that overall the school is not bad, it’s probably not the best in the world but I haven’t had too many real issues with it. Most of the teachers and pretty friendly and down to earth, they treat students with respect and kindness. In a school with not a huge number of students it can sometimes get annoying when certain classes that I feel would be beneficial to me aren’t able to run because there aren’t enough students signing up for them. Sometimes I am okay with the amount of students because it creates an environment where teachers can know students on a more personal level. Alum: The Lapeer schools helped me become who I am today. I had so many amazing teachers that were patient and helped me with anything I needed. It was not he best life growing up. I had many family problems at home, and i hated going back home. But school was an escape for me. I never felt I was good enough for anything. I never went out for sports after 8th grade and never made good connections with friends. I studied so hard and focused on my school work so that I could make it out of Lapeer. I graduated with a 4.0 and number 9 in my class! I was part of the National Honors society and I was the only girl that took woods class for three years in a row! However, when the schools were combined, the district was a disaster. Passion in the teachers and students was lacking drastically and still is. Bullying is higher than ever and students are just not making it. Teachers don't care and act like the students are not worth it. There is no structure and they have cut the arts so much.... Senior: I liked my experience at Dryden. Dryden gives a real small town feel. Everyone knows everyone, it almost is like a second family. One thing I would like to see Dryden change is its culture. I feel like a lot of the students don't care about the school. No one wants to participate in sports which is sad. But I enjoyed playing sports here because I could do whatever sports I wanted to do!
