Alum: As a former student for Stevenson, I recommend sending your child here! They have great resources and the teachers are always going to push your child to be the best. If I was falling behind, they would set me up with resources that made me succeed. Because of this, I was able to graduate with honors! The food is wonderful and they have a ton of healthy options. They take each student into consideration and always offer the best solution to any problem. The only reason why I took off a star is because of the sports. I played volleyball and I felt like sometimes politics got involved and it affected playing time for some of the students. This created a lot of toxicity within the team and created unnecessary drama. However, on the bright side, a lot of the sports teams perform really well and the coaches do care about the players well-being. That was the only downside of attending Stevenson. Senior: Libertyville Highschool is an amazing school to learn at and an environment to learn at. There are many amazing teachers that are very passionate about teaching and helping you no matter what, even if they have to stay a little longer. There are various courses you can take ranging from philosophy and film to jewelry making. At Libertyville Highschool there is also a long list of clubs that are available for all students to join such as the Cr-8 which is the engineering club at the school or the cosmetic club. Senior: My experience with Township High School was absolutely phenomenal. As a student who identifies with being in the LGBTQ+ community, there was never a moment where I felt uncomfortable or out of place. The resources I was provided with to let my education excel were far greater than my peers from other schools. I have had few to no bad experiences, especially with teachers and administrators. Senior: I enjoyed that Grayslake Central focused on student life as well as the involvement of students. Any student can create a club or join any club they wish, as we are offered 70 plus clubs to join. Our sports could improve in how they fund certain sports more than others, but all of the students put in the work to their desired sport. One improvement I would make is to change college preparation because I feel it truly should start as soon as high school does. Senior: I've attended D95 schools since Kindergarten, and before through the high school's Pre-K and Child Development program. I attended Isaac Fox for six years, Middle School South for three years, and then the High School for four years. Each year, my education felt highly valued by the staff present. I was a gifted student in kindergarten and taught in specialized environments for subjects like Math and Reading. In middle school, I was placed in the Gifted Program, with teachers selected for their aptitude in teaching students more in depth and at a faster pace. In high school, some AP classes take no time outside of class, while some Honors and CP classes required an hour of work each night. Some classes simply can't be taken simultaneously. The teachers actually cares about each of his or her students and prepare you for college, with few exceptions. I was involved in AP classes, athletics, and fine arts, along with clubs. Senior: Im a high school senior at Wauconda High School and overall, the entire school is very pleasant, clean, and friendly towards other students. There's little to no violence and the almost all the teachers are always excited and energetic. Overall, this school is amazing. Somethings this school could do better is to reduce the blatant price gouging on required items and provide greater funding towards providing classroom decorations for teachers. Junior: Zion Benton Township High School (ZBTHS) is a great school, it has great security, and allows students to express themselves. It provides numerous school and afterschool programs that allow students to participate in their community. Nevertheless, some programs are not available in ZBTHS but are rather available in another school called New Tech. Zion Benton Township High School is a safe place for students, it implemented metal detectors along with high definition cameras, it could be stated that it increased its overall security by 85% in this year. Unfortunately, this doesn't stop students from acting bad, there haven't been many school fights that involve students, but it won't be the first or the last time this sort of things happens in a High School. Something that I would like to see change would be the amount of afterschool activities related to science. Senior: Starting off with my freshman year of high school, I was new to the district and didn't know anyone there. I was a very introverted girl and nervous about high school. The school counselors were instantly able to help me and support me in any way they could. And as years went on, out of all my teachers, I only had one teacher that I didn't get along with. There are many clubs to be involved in and the coaches of our sports teams are extremely dedicated. Overall, my high school experience was ok. Senior: Waukegan has it's ups and downs like any place. To be able to succeed in Waukegan you need to find the drive within yourself to challenge yourself in classes and learn to motivate yourself because if you give up and your grades reflect on that the school will give up on you. They will not try to get you back to your feet if you are far from saving. Waukegan high school is not a motivating environment but you can make it a great learning one. Senior: I participated in multiple sports. The coaches were teachers who knew little about the sport. They only had 6 clubs. The teachers also were not able to find time to assist their students if they needed help like at Stevenson. I felt like the school did not prepare me for Stevenson since teachers were not always nice to students or wanted to find time to help them succeed.
