Parent: My kids have been attending Basis since before the pandemic, and we are so impressed! Rich academic curriculum, good inclusion of the arts, excellent opportunity for differentiation based on student needs. The teachers are dedicated and so are the parents to the kids' success. While the administration has been bumpy as the school has gotten established (only 5 years old), they earned their stripes during the pandemic. Organized, safety-focused and diligent about communication. We supplement school with sports leagues and scouting outside of school, which many parents do. Easy to do given the extensive choice you have in the DC area. Also appreciate the international study body with impressively bright students from all over the world. A real meritocracy, unlike other private schools that admit based on VIP status or connections/donations. Parent: I love everything about Templeton Academy! They are very supportive of my son's challenges and provide it when needed. The teachers are team players with the parents as well. The project based curriculum is awesome! It gives the students the chance to learn to work as a team and also use critical thinking skills. The class schedule is unique as well where the student will take 2 courses per semester for 10 weeks and still get all their required credits. Even though school is virtual right now, my son has met some friends. Oh and the class sizes are nice and small. Another thing I love about Templeton is how they praise the accomplishments of their students. My son is featured on their social media pages for winning 2 scholarships for being a philanthropist. Alum: Veritas School is academically rigorous, which prepares students for college. They stick to the Classical Christian method very well. Students read so many great books and are taught how to write and speak well. The teachers are wonderful. They really care about the students and focus a lot on building good relationships with the students. They have a lot of great options for music and the arts. Students are given the option between choir, strings, and lots of different types of art (things like ceramics and painting). The athletics are pretty good for Veritas being a smaller school. Their XC teams won the DII State Championship. Veritas just got a new soccer field. The campus is beautiful and very well taken care of.... Read 30 reviews
