Parent: The education has been pretty good. History and science seem to be strong. Common core math was a mess; a product of NC State government's bad decisions.
There are some weaknesses in English. Grammar is not a focus and neither was cursive writing. One of my children cannot read cursive. I blame the foolish State of NC. Both of mine are in advanced English and have not read as much literature as I did.
Racial diversity has been a positive experience in this county.
We had several positive experiences with teachers going above and beyond to provide extra curricular activities like FFA and Colorguard in Middle School. Shout out to McGees Middle School! Also an excellent band teacher there.
Strong marching band programs in the county, in general.
My biggest complaint is that the JOCO school board and administration. Poor management in the recent past, a Good Ole Boy system led to extreme debt by the country school system. This is shameful!!
