Works Here: I think Tomball ISD is one of the best districts out there. Alike all districts there are things that could be better and things that should change. I am only a sub as of right now but I would love to teach there after I finish school. I think in some instances we are too soft on kids these days, many are catered to hand and foot and i think in order for students to understand and appreciate the things we do they need more of a firm hand. They need to know that not everyone is going to cater to them and they need to learn to self correct instead of the first hand help EVERY time. Senior: I have been educated within the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District since Pre-Kindergarten. I would would say my overall experience was extordinary and profound. There was a vast amount of diversity around the entirey of the school. The extracuriccular activities were accumulated to students commons of instrests and values. Throughout my educational journey the faculy and staff was exceptional, I was assured that they put forth more consideration in my education than I did. The learning curriculum within their Middle Schools could use some reconstruction; it was seculry fendemental. During my years of middle school, it fell as though I was being taught them same material I was in school; except my Math courses. And I was until I started attending highschool I felt that dramatic change in education that I should have recieve in middle school. Senior: I love Deer Park High School. It is a very welcoming school. Some of my best experiences here are meeting new people and building bonds with others. Another experience here that I liked are all the sports they have to offer. I did cheer, cross country, and track. I also really enjoyed the clubs they have and the ones I was involved in. I was involved in National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Pals, and Best Buddies. There are many things to do at this school and they make sure everyone is involved. Some of my bad experiences, would be the rules always changing. The teachers here are wonderful, but they are always picky. As much as some students here are wonderful, some can be very rude. Alum: My experience with the Humble Independent School District was wonderful as a high school student. Compared to Houston ISD, the size comparisons are beyond different. Attending a smaller school district made my high school career easier;there was more funding towards the schools, teachers took their jobs seriously and not treated it as a daycare for young adults, the environment of the school district is diverse; Humble ISD has many great attributes and using 1000 characters isn’t enough to express my experience here. The district takes pride in their students wellbeing and the community’s as well. When covid occurred in 2020 the district gave out free meals to every student in their district and to their parents as well, each year there is a Christmas parade which allows each school to participate, and Humble ISD even allow the community and students too vote on how their students calendar should be, because of this students get a week off in October and February. Alum: I liked the kind and helpful teachers that Calvin Nelms Charter Schools employs. Their curriculum and the way they teach always manages to help you feel involved. There were countless opportunities to achieve like dual credit, getting CPR certified, and other things. However, since the school is small, there were not any music classes like band and choir. They also have a very strict no touching policy, which seems a bit silly at times when you're hanging out with your friends (not just because of COVID). I also wish they would have had AP classes.... Junior: The best parts of my high school experience so far have almost all involved orchestra. I love being apart of the Klein Oak orchestra program. It feels like a second family to me and my friends and directors all make it a safe and fun place where I can be myself. The majority of my high school years, I have had enjoyable teachers. They enjoy teaching their content and they teach it well. I am able to get comfortable with a select number of my teachers which I think helps when trying to find teachers for recommendations later on. And also just forming a good relationship with my teachers made my high school experience so much better. Some of the worst parts I would say it just the fighting that happens in the school. It happens rarely but whenever it does, personally I hate when people crowd around it instead of trying to get help. Parent: LPISD is one of the best kept secrets in the Houston area. Let me start by saying last year I had 3 students in 3 different schools; a 4-year-old at the Early Education Center at Heritage Elementary, an 8-year-old in 3rd grade at Rizzuto Elementary, and a 16-year-old at the Academy of Viola Dewalt. Just like my children, each of these schools is unique in its own right, but the culture of the district is cohesive and I attribute that to the communication of leadership from the admin building to the individual campuses. By opening the doors for volunteer programs, corporate partnerships, and family engagement opportunities, we have truly provided much-needed additional support to both students and teachers to help them succeed. Our teachers are second to none at teaching the whole child. Our athletics and fine arts programs are not only great, they just keep getting better (check out our Track and Field and Band records and attend the LPHS musical in the winter!) We love LPISD!... Senior: Crosby has been a great district to go to school. I have truly enjoyed the teachers, staff and facilities as they have really been centered around the students. Crosby use to be a small town and had a small ton vibe where the community was fully invested in the schools. There has been an influx of population over the past couple of years, causing crowding in the schools and especially the buses. With this growth has come some violence. Sophomore: Harmony Public Schools in my area (I've attended 3 of them- Excellence, Achievement, and currently in Discovery) have given me the opportunity to build a strong foundation and grow on top of it in specialized fields chosen in accordance with my interests. Junior: I love my school district Galena Park ISD! The best part about it is all the diversity in the district along with the welcoming feeling you get being in a GPISD school. Another amazing thing about GPISD is that every student has a good relationship with at least one teacher. My worst experience in GPISD was in 2020 when Covid-19 hit because I found learning online difficult. I would like for there to be more rules that students should follow regarding the dress code. Parent: Everything about this school district is Great except for the Middle schools Ability to control Bullying' of Handicapped children. Also Notifying A Parent of A Concern or problem there child is involved in. As well as Student safety. If I could Home school my children for grades 6-8 at this point' I would. I contacted and wrote the Administration office A 5 page letter' with detailed information of my daughter being bullied and harrassed and I Recieved 1 call from there office which I missed because we were in a Dr's appointment. Senior: Growing up in Alief and being here since kindergarten, everyone knows each other either directly or indirectly. In my time of attending school in Alief, many things have changed with the school system. There are more branch buildings, career development centers, and early starter centers, which I have attended, and more options for classes. Though being here since the beginning has allowed me to witness some things that may not be the best in the district, such as the rules that we can't swim on field trips due to liability or that we can't have prom due to awe.I understand for safety purposes and for cost reasons, but when students think of prom, they think of a party outside of their community, not prom fifteen minutes away from home.... Senior: What I like most about Pasadena Independent School District is how welcoming they are to all kinds of people and the amount of resources available. For example, there are many clubs and organizations available to all the different interests of students. The different extracurriculars help students stay involved and pursue their passions and interests. Also, it is beautiful seeing teachers and faculty devoted to the success of students. As a high school senior, it is very stressful and overwhelming to keep up with applications and other responsibilities in our daily lives. That is why I believe PISD is so great because there are always events intended to help us. Senior: I had a lot of fun at KIPP Austin Public Schools because it was somewhere where I grew up and learned so much. I have been at KIPP Austin Public Schools since the 5th grade and these seven years I will remember for the rest of my life. Entering high school I was so nervous because I thought that I would just be a nervous wreck live in middle school, but I made great friends and met great teachers that helped become more open. The classes at KIPP Austin Brave were amazing I learned so much, and I am still continuing to learn in my classes during this pandemic. This school has gave me so many opportunities like taking AP classes for college credit and I had a counselor that helped me sign up for dual credit classes in my junior year. During my freshman and sophomore year I had a rough time, but during my junior year my friends and teachers helped me become more motivated because they knew how much I want to succeed. Senior: I’ve been in the sheldon isd school district since pre-k all the way till now. Going into high school there was a new school built so I was able to learn at a new place. I like how they invested in more security like metal detectors and technology. Some of the bad experiences I had was related to dress code. For example, many students couldn’t have colored hair because it was too distracting and same goes for piercings. Senior: As a senior at Channelview High School, I can say my overall experience has been fantastic. There are two main factors that make me love this school so much: Teachers and classes. The Teachers in the school truly make you feel loved, respected, appreciated, and will do everything to make sure you understand the subject.
