Senior: Somonauk schools are very inviting to students of all kinds. The elementary school invites students to be adventurous, so the children never lose interest in learning. The middle school has many different programs and clubs that make all the students feel included. This school helps make students feel comfortable in their own skin and environment. The high school is full of spirit and is just one big family. There is always a student that is willing to step up and help out, and every event is filled with positivity. Alum: I have a lot to say about my school. I loved how they managed and organized their system, and truly cared for every kid. Out of my whole 12 years there, I never once that help was not there if I needed it. I would want my future kids to go to Sycamore, no doubt it is one of the best school systems in the state. And their agriculture programs are best in the nation. A few things I would change... Teacher's need to be assessed more. The teachers at Sycamore are wonderful and really the best teachers ever, but I've had the couple that teaching just wasn't for them and Sycamore still kept them teaching, many years to come while students failed. Second, the teachers went 192 days without pay in 2022. Lastly and most importantly in my opinion. In middle and high school if you missed a day for a doctors appointment or any type of emergency, you still have to make the day up in Physical Education, which can only be done in school. Alum: I enjoyed my time at Indian Creek High School. The whole place had a small town vibe. Sadly to go along with the vibe was that everyone knew everyone and their business. At the time I was in school there was some teachers who didn’t care at all and others that would put in the effort to make sure you understood everything. Junior: I have been at the Dekalb school District all my life. The school District has evolved in Diversity and academically. The Dekalb school District has many academic opportunities and it has challenged me in many ways. There are many choices in Math, Science, History, and English that you can chose from once you enter Highschool which is a great opportunity. It also has many options in AP classes so you can challenge yourself. There are also many resources and teachers that offer help. They have difficult classes to prepare yourself for college and they always push you to become better.... Read 24 reviews

Senior: The English Department is really good, I really excel in writing because of of this department. I feel one area that needs improvement is in the math department. Overall I feel I have gotten a good education here, I believe you get what you put into your education and if you need help the teachers will help you succeed. Senior: My time at Genoa-Kingston has been a time well spent. I have learned a lot about myself and others. Although we are a small school we have an amazing support system of students and teachers. Personally, I play volleyball and I have seen multiple teachers come to games almost every time. Or if they don't come they are watching from home and talking with us about it later. It creates such great relationships with teachers, and really allows people to connect. One thing that I would like to see change about this school is to encourage more students to get involved in things such as student council. We had a bit of a struggle trying to get people to come out and help for things like homecoming week. It would be nice to have more people participate.... Read 24 reviews

Senior: My experience at Hiawatha High School has been one of the greatest 4 years of my life. I was able to play my favorite sport volleyball with all my teammates.
