Junior: I feel like I have received a quality education as a student in the Acalanes Union High School District. I have had pleasant experiences in academics and pleasant interactions with my teachers. I believe that the course offerings in this district are exceptional and that the advance placement courses I have taken have played a great part in preparing me for college. Middle School Student: I love the family feel. We grow up with each other, and we get to see each other grow and mature. We basically all know each other because we are a small town, and that has its advantages and disadvantages. Our school district does have "cliques" and I wish it didn't and we could all get along. Senior: We are a small district, so focus on high school students to achieve their goals are high. I have enjoyed all my 4 years attending high school there, i won't change it for anything, teachers are great, and help you out if needed. Going to school in a small town has its perks also, everybody went to school together from preschool to your senior year attending, im am taking steps for my next adventure, which is college, the school prepares us for college with help in financial aid classes, college fairs. Meetings with our counslers and teachers to help us decide what field we are interested in and educate us on our furture career. Senior: The Pittsburg Unified School District has been for the most part a very pleasant experience with teacher and administrators who welcome their students. The diversity in our district is very high, but we are all united through family oriented values that define who we are. The only thing I do wish to change, however, is the average class size in classrooms. In Pittsburg High School, sometimes teachers looked overwhelmed with so many students in one class, and not enough attention is given to each student individually. The bigger the classroom size, the less time a teacher has for a child who gets behind. Senior: I like WCCUSD diversity. I feel accepted and meet/ know people who look just like and have similarly interests. Additionally, we have very hands on teachers who are always trying to engage their students and keep their classes fun and engaging. The sports facilities are amazing and have been remodeled every few years. Like right now at my school, Pinole Valley High, they’re constructing née outside basketball courts for the school. I love my school and district and think this community is really amazing and accepting of everyone it. The only harsh thing I can say is they could definitely improve their food selections choices for lunch, but besides that I truly do believe that I go to school in a beautiful community with really great people!... Middle School Student: BUSD is very good school district there is just a lack of good food parent involvement.Their musics and arts are amazing and have some of the best bands in the state. the school culture and diversity are amazing. Middle School Student: The exercise policy is a bit too much because some kids have different weight.I feel like the school district thinks that all the kids are fit and skinny and thinks they can do exercise more than anyone else.This kind of is stereotypical of the SD. it seems like they are promulgating excessive studying because they say HW shouldn't be less than 30 minutes and if it is,your child needs to get help....They also do excessive tests on students like hearing and speech(?!?).They also don't have the best picks for staff of some school because there might be a principal in the entire SD who thinks he/she rules the school.That is very unparliamentary,and I think they should vote on staff.I feel children getting stressed probably by a little mishap(game balls in the lawn and talking with a friend) that the heads RAGE over.WCI is the best,however,with awesome,kind staff who really care.WCI really helped me learn more than the elementary schools....
