Newell-Fonda Community School District
#3 Best School Districts in Buena Vista County
- School District
- Newell, IA
Junior: I am extremely satisfied thus far with my experience at Newell-Fonda CSD. The school has been adding a significant amount of new buildings and facilities in the past several years, and they have all advanced the school in different ways. Our superintendent is very caring, and he bends over backward to make sure that everyone is receiving the best conditions possible for success. The general feel of the school is very positive, as well. Being a small school gives everyone the chance to get to know one another. We all say hello to each other in the hallways, and if someone is going through a rough time, they can be assured that there are at least one hundred other students there to encourage them and have their back. I don't think a lot of schools can say that. Overall, I can say with confidence that Newell-Fonda has sufficiently prepared me for the future, and I will forever be thankful for that. Go Mustangs!

Storm Lake Community School District
#4 Best School Districts in Buena Vista County
- School District
- Storm Lake, IA
Senior: I have been part of the Storm Lake District for most of my school life. There were only three years where I was not apart of the school and they were the most miserable times of my life. The Storm Lake Public school system has amazing programs that enable students of all backgrounds to unite and learn together. That is, there are students all the way from Asia, South America, and Africa that are treated the same as Americans. I have grown up with classmates where they never knew English till they came here. The school system welcomes diversity and works with all the different values that enter the school. My three years out of the public system were spent at Saint Mary's in Storm Lake. St. Marys is a crude school that has zero tolerance for anyone. Storm Lake public is far better than its private counterpart because of the amazing staff and millions of opportunities.

Bard Academy at Simon's Rock
- Private School
- Great Barrington, MA
Alum: I really enjoyed spending time as a student in Bard Academy at Simon's Rock. Overall, I have to say the academics of the school are incredibly strong, and the program most certainly accomplishes its goal of preparing individuals for college in two years. Bard Academy offers opportunities you can't find almost anywhere else: the chance to have all of your classes taught by incredible professors, the privilege of having the full resources of a college campus and being able to speak with any college professor in any field about anything on your mind, and being able to take (admittedly up to two) college classes while in high school. My greatest frustration during my time in the Academy was the limit on two college classes; however, the program is quite young and is still evolving. As a result, the staff and faculty who lead it love to hear your propositions, and enjoy working alongside students to make things work best both from an administrative and an individual student's perspective.
