Senior: One of my favorite things about Athens High School is the people going there. I have been going there for two and a half years now and i've many very good friends there. It is an open and loving environment and the students at Athens High are probably one of the best things about the school. Another thing that's great about Athens High is the teachers. The ones that i have had are good at what they do and have helped me learn even concepts that i find very difficult. Something I think that they could improve on at Athens is focusing more on the arts. A lot of resources and attention goes to athletics while the arts programs get very little.... Read 32 reviews

Senior: I have had a very good time within this district. The community environment has never failed to amaze me. Every teacher cares so much about their students and puts loads of effort into giving their students the best education they can. Alum: I have been in the school district since the third grade. While I had the angst of any high school student when it came to unhappiness with their school, the schools small supportive atmosphere helped me become more comfortable as a member of my community. The school did a great job with small teacher to student ratios, incorporating up-to-date teaching and learning techniques and staff, and accommodating to the low income students. One thing that I think the school could work on is the unrest and drama within the office staff and upper administration. I feel like I could never find the right person to bring up issues with and there was always some sort of crazy drama to talk about with the upper staff, whether it be ignorance or flexing power or just being rude or other staff and students.... Senior: It's a good small-town highschool, but sadly that is all it is, and is nothing compaired to nearby schools. With very limited resources teachers and students alike are left to fend for themselves, usually teaming up to get things that they need in a class-room setting. I personally have had great difficulty getting advanced materials and had to enroll in college-level classes because there is very limited advanced classes, and when there are it seems like it is just an extra project, with no more rigorous of content than the basic class. My highschool tends to the small-town life, but can you really ask for more? It is the best that it can be, but sadly it wasn't enough for me.... Read 18 reviews
