Other: I went to Westlake High School at the beginning of my senior year. It was a great experience for me because even though it was the peak of COVID-19, they still managed to keep our education going as well as took care of their students. I was new both to the school and the country but it was one of the many experiences that have gotten me to where I am today. Parent: Jackson Local Schools has something for everyone! Academically, they are one of the best in Stark County and in the State of Ohio. We have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement and College Credit Plus courses. Students come out of JHS very prepared for college, if that is what they would like to do. Jackson has an amazing School of the Arts, where students participate in band, choir, theatre, dance and visual arts. In that program, there is the opportunity to mentor younger students in summer camps. We also have a culinary program, auto shop, horticulture and a medical program. Senior: I moved to the North Canton School district during my 4th grade school year and I've had no bad experiences. Once I got to High School they already started helping me map out a plan for after high school and they're very clear about the college credit program they have and all of the numerous AP classes taken. In all of the 6 AP classes I have taken or are taking all of my teachers have been really good at their job with preparing us for the AP test while making the class still feel easy. The guidance counselors are very patient and understanding if you need something and genuinely want whats best for their students. My guidance counselor has been able to fit me into college classes last minute which I am very thankful for. Senior: I think Shaker Heights has a ton to offer students. There is a club for everyone to be a part of and find people just like them, and there is a plethora of classes to choose from that cater to many different interests. The teachers are great and also understand what students are dealing with in and outside of school. I do believe that the issues with this school start at the top. The administration doesn't seem to take into account what the kids want or even what the teachers want. I've had numerous teachers express their feelings about issues that the school doesn't seem to care about or are going the wrong way about it. They also don't do a good job of enforcing a good school culture, too many fights happen and when they do happen it just throws off the whole day. Focused students will get the knowledge they need to succeed moving forward in life here at Shaker, but it does seem like there are fewer and fewer of them since my earlier years at the school.... Senior: The overall experience of Berea City Schools has been very nice over the past 12 years however, there have been issues that I think may have been prevented. There have been classes that I have not been scheduled for which have directly impacted my learning, and my ability to make myself the best student I can possibly be. These classes were readily available, just for some reason I was not selected to be in them and instead offered study hall periods in return. Senior: I’ve been in the Cleveland Heights district for six years, and my expertise over all has been wonderful. My freshman year at Heights was very good, even though it was cut short. However, as I enter my senior year at heights, I believe that this will surpass my freshman year because we got through COVID and all. Also, I’ve grown so much with this school.
