Junior: Overall my experience with Lower Merion School District has been largely positive, I believe that the administration in this district does a relatively good job with implementing various policies that the community may be in support of. And, typically, it is done in a timely manner. Also, it is worth noting that although the Lower Merion School District does reach out fairly often and does keep in contact, it does so largely with parents. Freshman: This school district is wonderful. It's full of accepting students who truly care. The teachers are great! We do lack in racial and cultural diversity though. We have only one black teacher in the high school (Spanish teacher). Every other teacher in the high school, to my knowledge is white. Parent: Mt. Lebanon School District is an great choice for families looking for a high-quality education. As a resident for 15 years, I have had the pleasure of watching my two children thrive academically and socially in Mt. Lebanon. The teachers are dedicated and care about the success of each student. They provide a challenging and stimulating curriculum that has prepared my children well for college. The counselors are also top-notch and have provided valuable guidance and support throughout the college application process for my older son. Sophomore: I really liked how inclusive it was. There was a lot of focus on being a close and welcoming community. The district also provided many opportunities for the students to help the community and be involved in service. If I could change anything about the district, it would be the fact that there needs to be more addressing about mental health awareness. Also, I would make it so that everyone is given an equal opportunity to express their talents and skills. At many times, I felt like there were students who were not placed in the right math level, and they could do so much better if they were in a higher place. In other words, I think the district would be a lot better if it properly placed students into academic levels that best suited them rather than keeping all the students in one level. Senior: The quality of education provided here is exceptional. This school provides a litany of AP, honors, and CHS classes. Most of the teachers are phenomenal; they are compassionate, engaging, and always more than willing to help. Many of the teachers are experts in their field. There are a few bad teachers who should have retired (or in a few cases been let go) long ago, and they are protected by the administration who refuses to do anything about them. The guidance department is helpful and was invaluable to me when I was applying to colleges. Many of the students are quite science-focused, and as a humanities lover myself I found that there were very limited extracurricular and elective options in the humanities. Most academic clubs are science- or technology-related. Junior: I like the programs we have at Central Bucks. The sports at my high school are good and force you to work hard, and the clubs and arts here are great as well. As an art student and somebody who is particular interested in athletics, all the programs here are good quality. I know there are a lot of talented art students (as in physical art and other forms such as music). Additionally, I run track and the community and support is incredible there. Despite all of this, there are some changes I would love to see happen. For example, the school board often unfairly votes and pushes unreasonable rules onto the schools. For example, pride flags in classrooms were recently banned in classrooms due to a number of reoccurring incidents.
