Parent: My son would be entering grade 2 coming fall. He did his kindergarten and grade 1 in HHH school district. The teachers at HHH are dedicated in providing their students with an education that goes beyond just the classroom. Senior: As someone who attended all four years of high school in Syosset, I greatly valued all the opportunities given to me through sports, clubs, and academics. Parent: I grew up in Hewlett and I am raising my daughter here. The academics are amazing. The community is welcoming and they do so many amazing events for families. Starting from FECC (early childhood center), which was warm and helped create an amazing foundation. Then onto the elementary schools, which teaches accountability along with social, emotional and academics. This district has it all! One last bit of information, your child can get credits for college once in the high school. This is an overlooked bonus but definitely great for kids and parents. This district has it all ! Senior: Ridgewood High Schools's motto, "A Tradition of Excellence" is not reflective of RHS's population. Ridgewood goes beyond excellence. Every year Ridgewood administration is constantly finding new ways to better the school. Last year they bought a large screen-printer. A few years before they bought 3-D printers for the science lab. Now while Ridgewood is often encouraging students, especially girls to become young scientists and pursue STEM majors, the school also provides many opportunities for students interested in liberal arts to explore the world of literature, history, psychology, etc. There are interesting and unique classes students can take such as Physics, Engineering, and Art (one class), Dance, Robotics, Art History, and Crime and Mystery Literature. However, I feel that besides all these amazing aspects, the school does not truly listen to their students. Even with a student government, students are still told no, constantly. Junior: Some of the best parts about the Darien School District are the rigorous academics and the high-level sports. Additionally, there are numerous clubs students can join, from business to poetry. However, most students attending Darien Public schools are very high achieving, and tend to compete with one another whether that be through academics, sports, leadership roles, or others. Additionally, while the academics are very good for this school district, it often leads to "burnout" among students, because of how much homework we receive, on top of all the extracurriculars we have. I would like to see more resources available to students, similar to the Math learning connections room in the morning; certain hours for each subject where students can come and review/learn topics missed in class and gain a better understanding... Sophomore: Plainview-Old Bethpage John F Kennedy High School is a fantastic highschool to send your kids too in every way! The kids here are friendly, most of the time, very very smart, and talented! The academics at POB are one of the very best in the state! I prefer POB over other highly rated districts like Jericho and Syosset because although POB is very academically competitive you still feel at ease attending the highschool!
